Thanks Kev. Yes, thankfully the key fob goes into a slot, no more keys floating around in the centre console.

And you can get colour coded side parts on ebay, changed my last one that shape to a white key. Looked great (£120 if you order with a new car - £ 10 ish on ebay).

ps - i thought was shape of a Panamera.

I bet he will be back in no time, with foot to the floor :)

nice key design that, i wonder if other brands will adopt the same? I thought BMW key was big in the pocket to carry around, is the Porsche one bigger> or is does it just looker bigger in the pictures?

My Dads Ford Focus key is way smaller and more compact etc fits nicely in your pocket, don't notice it.

The key is smaller than the BMW one.

Well, I’m home. It took 3 hours to do the 69 miles to Essex and we were very late collecting the car, finally got there at 5.30pm. The Macan looked amazing and Andy, the garage owner, showed us the controls and walked through the whole car with us. I picked up one stone chip on the front, otherwise it’s indistinguishable from a new car, even smells new. We did the money part and were on our way by 6.30pm, Andy did not rush at all and was very accommodating.
Katrina drove first as we had to get some dinner, Andy had recommenced the Lion Inn in Danbury a few miles away, so we went there and had a fantastic meal.
Then it was my turn to drive and wow, it’s amazing. The ride even on 21’s is silky smooth and the engine so quiet, but then put it into sport plus and the air springs lower the whole car 15mm and stiffen it up, the throttle response is amazing in sport plus. Considering it ‘only’ has 258bhp and should feel slower than my 535d it absolutely does not when in sport plus. It’s a bit lazy in comfort mode though and I can totally see where @The CO was coming from when he was not impressed with the SD.
I drove most of the way home on the M25 in sport or sport plus, it did 38mpg and I wasn’t hanging around. It only took an hour and a quarter to get home and I loved every minute. One thing that came as a surprise is the full leather - and it is full leather, dash doors everything with lovely stitching like I have never seen on any other Macan. I had the cooled seat on which was also an unexpected revelation, the heated steering wheel seems a waste of time though.
The tech is great too. I remember @Spuffington saying it was poor compared to the idrive system, but this car is the upgraded system that came with the 2017 model year and I found it really good, it even has gesture control. I thought I would miss the head up display, but in fact all the info you need, including nav directions appears in the cluster next to the Rev counter in full HD colour.
The active cruise will take some getting used to though and I’m not a fan at present.
One cool feature is that the whole car sits down on its air springs to allow the occupants to get in and out easily, and the tow bar operation is something else, talk about over engineered.
Overall, I feel very smug that I have a car with this spec and with a 30 grand saving from new that looks, feels and smells new still, I consider myself very lucky indeed.
More to follow when I’ve had time to explore.

So pleased for you Ian. I suspect the GT is already somewhat of a distant memory?

Completely agree with you that in normal mode, the response from the drivetrain can be a little underwhelming. But it’s helped by turning off Start Stop since the coasting effect of what is effectively Eco mode loosens the whole thing and introduces slack which is not evident otherwise. You’re right about Sport Plus mode, it’s ballistic. But so much so that I can’t drive for more than a few miles in that mode as in my petrol the whole thing wants to shoot you to the sky at the tiniest hint of throttle and holds the revs in each gear at 4k rpm which is tiring unless you’re “on it”. Also in mine it stiffens the suspension to Uber stiff and relaxes the ESP which can make things “interesting”. Sport, for me, is a good compromise for a nice road when it’s just me on my own.

Do you have Porsche Torque Vectoring too? That’s laugh out loud funny when that kicks in.

Continue enjoying - you’ve got a cracker there.

I don’t know about you but within hours of getting mine, I had the feeling I don’t ever want to own anything else. That feeling has only got stronger the longer I own mine.

    Congratulations! (y)

No torque vectoring that I know of, I guess it would be listed in the options on the original invoice?
Noticed today that there is a scuff on the leather of the drivers door, I’m going to have to sort that out as it’s an annoyance.
Not driven it today but have been sitting in the passenger seat with Katrina driving and the cooled seats are great in this weather.

The spec on this car is quite extraordinary. When I was first looking, one of the things I really wanted was ventilated seats given the daft temps in Croatia but typically there were only one or two on the Porsche Approved locator so gave up in the end. I also didn't want to lose the LED lights but they were only just less rare. As for a sports exhaust, I just never bothered after a while. It then came down to nuances of packages. For instance, as long as you specced the smokers package you got the little cover over the area where the lighter goes. If you didn't you ended up with an unsightly hole. The light package was another one, if you didn't spec it you didn't get memory seats (or something like that). It became a real pain. Air suspension was another one, so rare.

I think the main reason I decided the diesel wasn't for me was that I could never quite get my head around a diesel engine in a Porsche. There's nothing wrong with that of course but after I test drove the GTS I swore blind I wouldn't go diesel if I eventually bought one. I also found it a bit underwhelming if I'm honest and the lag that I experienced in the Macan is well and truly present in the RRS - go figure. Ultimately, the RRS is a better fit for us and comparing the two is a bit unfair really, they are very different cars. Save for all the problems I've had with it (although touch wood nothing else has gone wrong for a couple of months now) I do actually really like it and always look forward to driving it. To scratch that Porsche itch, I've got my eye on a cheap and cheerful Boxster right now..

Been sat in traffic today and, oh dear:

Couple of things I really like is this:

    69936A8F-C34D-4C0D-9796-79794884F363.jpeg

And the ability to keep the engine in comfort whilst lowering and stiffening the suspension:

    6BFED6F8-D460-49FB-B7DC-AF3578016606.jpeg 9B15BA2A-6A6D-41B1-9F54-9FC49A330D1F.jpeg

I’ve had the sports exhaust on all day and it sounds amazing to the point where I’m turning the stereo down to hear the sound, my Dad actually thought it was a petrol engine and he was amazed when I told him. I think this is the single best feature of the car.
In other news, I loaded many albums to the Jukebox hard drive via a USB stick, very easy. My wife actually likes the tech better than the I drive, it does so much and is easy to navigate. I’m not mad about the touchscreen though.
