After 6 weeks of looking and test driving I have now put a deposit on this 2.5 year old Macan. I pick it up tomorrow as I couldn't wait until Saturday! I will report back once I have actually driven the car. The spec is: 21-inch 911 Turbo Design wheels LED main headlights including Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus) Air suspension with self-levelling, ride-height control and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) Sports exhaust system incl. Sports tail pipes black Adaptive sports seats with comfort memory package (18-way) Panoramic roof system Navigation Module for Porsche Communication Management (PCM) Adaptive cruise control with Porsche Active Safe (PAS) Towbar system with electrically deployable towball BOSE® Surround-Sound-System Connect Plus Lane Assist in conjunction with Lane Change Assist Sport Chrono Package Seat ventilation (front) Metallic paint Seat heating (front and rear) BodyCare premium kit Roof rails in aluminium with black finish including roof transport system ParkAssist (front and rear) with reversing camera Privacy glass Garnet Red seat belts Automatically dimming exterior and interior mirrors (i.c. w Comfort Memory Package) Light comfort package (i.c.w driver memory package, comfort memory package or adaptive Sports seats with comfort memory package) Heated steering wheel Power steering Plus Alloy wheel protection Monochrome Black exterior package (high-gloss) Porsche Crest embossed on head restraints (front) Full colour wheel centre caps Smoker package 75-litre fuel tank Black leather interior Its a one owner car, 3litre diesel with 11K miles, late 66 reg. These cars are like hens teeth with this spec and it would have cost £70k new. I hope you like it:
Ian, Congratulations! That looks very good, enjoy it and will read with interest how you get on with it.
Thanks guys. I will be sorry to see the 535d GT go, but then I have had it for nearly three years which is a long time for me.
That's some spec right there. When I was seriously looking at one of these what became rapidly apparent was how different, in terms of extras, each Macan was. Made the search all the more frustrating and some of them weren't so obvious either. Well done anyway, looking forward to hearing the updates!
You're right. I looked at many and test drove two, I missed two good spec cars by an hour each time, these cars sell very quickly if spec'ed correctly. I don't envisage losing much money on this one over a couple of years, especially with the low mileage. I lost £17K on the GT in 32 months.
That's a great spec, only thing missing is surround view, which isn't on my new one either (as bought a stock car in a hurry). First thing to do is program the diamond button to sports exhaust Where you buying it from, I'm hoping I can get mine tomorrow if they get it delivered today. edit - just realised the dealer on the reg
You've done well, seriously. I've got my eye on a GTS just now and I've no idea how it's managing to hang around with the spec it has. Still, yours is probably the best specced diesel I've seen yet.
I bought it from an independent dealer in Chelmsford, a very good situation where you can actually deal with the owner who cares about his business. What is connect plus? I had no idea I could program the sport exhaust like that.
Connect plus, (I think) is for example last week, where the car calls emergency services if in a crash ( amongst other things), - albeit not ideal as your climbing out of a smoke filled car on a wall ! Plus- things like weather, nearest fuel ++ Might be to do with a tracker too - but on mine that's Porsche car connect. The diamond button can be programmed for various diff things, I put sports exhaust on, but there's a lot of things it can be used for. I'm sure it will have some sort of warranty, but make sure its a good one, even look at Porsche one if you can, parts are an extra-ordinary cost, although I've found servicing isn't much diff than BMW.
Great stuff Ian. Welcome to the club! You won’t regret it and I’m so pleased for you that you eventually found „the one“. As I said the other day - only thing it’s missing from the huge spec is a proper petrol engine! ;) But I also understand from first hand experience how 38mpg vs 21mpg is more palatable! Enjoy the drive tomorrow. Can’t wait to hear more. I don’t think you’ll be missing the GT much in all honesty.
Must say if i was ever in the market for an SUV the Macan is the one i'd go for. Well done Ian, it looks an excellent example you've got there
Thanks for the info. It still has a few months Porsche warranty as it 2.5 years old, as I got it so cheap I have enough money put aside to get the proper Porsche warranty when the time comes. Spuff steered me in the right direction for that. Even if I pay for the warranty the car still works out around £3k cheaper than from a Porsche dealer.
Yeah, thanks for all your help and advice. I’m hoping the sports exhaust will go some way to correcting the diesel clatter but the only one drove without the sports exhaust didn’t sound bad at all, we’ll see.
You‘re welcome mate. Have a few more bits to share with you at some point in terms of how stuff works (only just getting to find things now). I’ll either PM or post on here when I have some time. Can’t remember if I told you before but my Uncle had two dieselS Macans and they were superbly quiet when cruising but gave a purposeful growl under power. His were both without the PSE so I reckon you’ll be grand. But pleased with my mpg this evening - Cambs/Essex border to just short of LHR...
@klynie Lovely, and LOTS of buttons to play with!! We'll still talk to you, even although you've jumped marques.....
congrats @kleynie looks great, is that Mineral Grey (or equivalent)? Lots of buttons on the centre console Strange how no start button? You still put the key in & turn it.... Kev
