Well after 15 months of M140i ownership I finally gave in to the wife's moaning and dislike of it and traded it in for a Range Rover Evoque which was her choice. I chose the Mi140 and our previous F31, F30 and E91 so it was only fair. I don't mind telling you that I quite literally had a tear in my eye as we went to the dealer yesterday So that's two new cars in two days, the neighbours must think we've struck lucky. This is the first time I've been without a BMW in years and feels very strange. The wife didn't realise how upset I would be so I've now got major bargaining chips to find the classic Subaru I've wanted for many year and she's agreed. In all honesty, she's happy which is the main thing and this RR is actually pretty good to drive and we also get an off road experience from Land Rover which I'm genuinely looking forward to so we can see what these things are capable of. As my wife would say ' happy wife means happy life' That's why I drive our T5 camper van and she drives our 640d.... ( Although sometimes, some of her decisions are really hard to accept...)
Always listen to wives ... Mine forced me to buy the Porsche. You may be BMW-less , but please keep checking in on us
I won't be going anywhere, I like this forum and it's definitely the best one I've been on. It's friendly, mature and very welcoming regardless of what people own or drive.
As it was the daily drive and with two small kids she found it too small and impractical...I do see her point.
Into each life some rain must fall...... well, according to the song, anyway. Your wife is clearly a person of good taste, enjoy the RR - and we'll expect a report of the Driving Experience when you go on it.
Will do, I've got a lot of reporting to do this summer what with the new A4, the RR and a road trip through France and into Spain.
I had to pop into Land Rover briefly this morning to pass something over to the manager, he said "you're the one who traded in the BMW aren't you?" I was like "yeah thanks, let's not go there". Obviously word got around the dealership and I suspect one or two of them had a good go in it. At least I dropped it off with little to no petrol. That was the hardest car I've ever let go.
That's quite a change. I'd be interested to read how you get on with it, my missus cant decide whether to go for an Evoque or a Merc saloon. I'm quite tempted to guide her towards the Evoque so I can borrow it in winter when heading into the hills
What can one say? ... just to offer my sincere condolences!... marital harmony maintained Enjoy the European road trip
To be fair there are times when you simply must keep the wife happy, am sure it ll pay dividends for you in the future when it comes to the next car . She ll probably be over the moon with the Evogue as well so it s all good. Enjoy it .
A friend has had two...nice cars BUT watch the dealers, they are a league above BMW dealers for trying to lift ones leg !. Also it seems they need several weeks notice if you are needing to book the car in for anything
Well what I can say is that it's actually deceivingly spacious, and the little ones have plenty of space behind my seat. It feels a good quality car and I really like the interior which is quite plain and functional. The drive is nice and smooth and you really have no concept of how fast you're driving. It has 180hp but a high torque figure which I suppose makes sense for an off road vehicle. Standard equipment is quite generous, heated electric seats, full leather, f/r sensors, folding mirrors, sat nav and probably other stuff I can't remember. The only thing we added was tinted rear windows and metallic paint. You could go wild with the options on these and spend many thousands on luxuries but we know what we need as opposed to unnecessarily want (or afford). Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
