100% correct. The previous Mrs W had my Saab 9-5 estate for a long weekend when I’d taken her crappy 106 to the airport. I was away with the lads on a walking trip in northern Spain. Had a call on the third day “the car wouldn’t start so I called the RAC. You owe them £120 for a new battery”. Brilliant.
It has kept some of us going throughout this (hopefully) final lockdown! I’m tempted to go out and plug it in again tomorrow, haven’t used the car since yesterday, so must need a charge!
I’ve got a 420d from enterprise at the minute while mine is at the body shop , been tempted to get that on the ctek just for the sake of it
Eventually today, my stop start turned green - no need to charge, took long enough though The stop start function does serve as a useful function, it’s not entirely useless and is a sure way of knowing how the garden ornament is doing battery wise!
I treated myself a new tyre inflator and airline with shiny new couplings for my compressor. Imagine my excitement when it arrived - I couldn't wait to get the compressor fired up and get the F30 tyres inflated. I backed the car out of the garage and went to work. Oh, the enjoyment - far more entertaining than watching a CTEK charger. 5 minutes later and the car was back in the garage. Oh well, what to do now? . . . Maybe I'll connect the CTEK and monitor the charging cycle.
Careful... don't hijack the CTEK thread. Perhaps we should start a new topic. "What Are Your Tyre Pressures Today?" We could get some data together, on the changes in pressure over time, and/or with change in ambient temperature. The excitement ... Peter
Well I’m pleased to report the MINI started on the button! I’d love to leave the CTEK plugged in longer but don’t have facilities for longer term to accommodate sadly. So for now the X5 will rest a few days and the MINI will be primary car. Something I did notice though was mould growing along the window strip due to lack of use Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
A quick spray of All Purpose Cleaner and a vigorous scrub with a brush will to the trick to remove that!
Highlight of the week - topping up the screen-wash. We need to stay active during this lockdown - popping out to connect chargers, check tyre pressures, or screen-wash is essential for our mental and physical wellbeing. It's essential exercise.
I did that Tuesday, the excitement when the filler tube showed it as full. Probably will last a year, the mileage we are doing at present. Peter
Well - I have to offer something, I’m off to shovel the drive whilst the suns out! Top Tip Length of plywood circa 4foot long and walk it into the neighbours garden Then play guessing games with drain covers, get it wrong and you get a wooden plank in the chest/face! Piff! Battery chargers are so last year, we’ve all moved onto sliding around in our summer tyres haven’t we
Careful... "all that excitement", in one day! Peter PS: I think many of us have been there with something like the plywood.
We can do Screen wash, now that is an interesting subject! All you folks rave the BMW one and I like the Halfrauds one, but maybe I need to try the BMW one? Do we need some calculations on Correct Ratio Cost per 100ml Longevity - I find screen wash can go off (or the water goes stale) it smells of rotten eggs Colour Scent I think that covers most measures?
