Unfortunately my F25 X3 has developed a fault....

The other day I was reversing out of my drive and heard a small clunk, as I drove forward the steering felt heavy like I had a puncture, I pulled back into my drive and looked round the car and all the tyres seemed fine...

I drove off and the car felt OK - within a mile as I was going over a railway crossing, a 4x4 failure message popped up please drive moderately, then went out then came back, the car then seemed to shift gear erratically and I got a transmission warning appear, please call BMW mobile service.

I limped the car back home and parked it up.

I have read the codes (please see the picture for codes)

Does anyone have any ideas please, typically I was about to trade the car in but now don't want to stitch anyone up with a faulty car.

It's a 2011 2.0D SE XDrive , 125K on the clock so worth very little - probably only £2.5 to £3K so it won't take much to be sold spares and repairs...

I’m no expert but all of that would point to a faulty speed / ABS sensor.

I’m sure @markyboyt will be able to help though.

Hmm doesn’t look anything hugely conclusive but the transfer box etc could point towards something. I assume there wasn’t any strange noises when you limped it home?
Something like a driveshaft breaking would almost certainly give a large amount of noise when driven as it would flail. Have you got star marked tyres, correctly inflated and all relatively similar tread depths?
As spuffington suggests you could also monitor wheel speeds. The DTC’s on ISTA may also have fault plans attached to them so worth working through them if so.

Thanks Markyboyt there was no noise, and drove ok if a little erratically, started it the other day and was able to move it in the driveway with no errors flashing up, could well be a transfer box issue, have been doing some reading and some owners have had similar issue which was caused by the rear output flange of the transfer box...will take a deeper dive in ISTA and see if I can narrow it down....doesn't look good though...especially as the car isn't worth much.
