    Hi
Just wondering, anybody who has done their map updates via usb how long have they normally taken?
I seem to recall they used to be able to be left in then they would just stop when the car was off and resume on the next journey until loaded but mine reset each time. I wouldn’t mind but after over an hour it’s at 12%.
4GC NBT next maps usb in the centre console as no glovebox one on these.

For me it takes about 45 minutes. There are 5 sections to the update so if the updating process is interrupted then it will restart at the beginning of the current section.

For it to stop at 12% for an hour it's probably hung. Could you try a different USB stick? I've had some that aren't recognised by the car.

Mine also takes about 45 minutes. I load mine when I know I'm driving a distance, where it won't get interrupted.

I also suggest it is hanging, if it doesn't progress after time.

Yes this is the in car stage, it was rattling on just very slowly so definitely wasn’t frozen, after 2 hours it was at 19% but I noticed it saying usb2 So thought it might restart at 2. I left it to sleep then went back and it started at 18% so discovered it does thankfully. Current speed suggests it will take 10 hours to do the whole thing. I’ll get it running in the garage tomorrow and get through a few more stages hopefully.

Yes, NEXT - Europe West upgrade, and I think that it was about 26 Gb. I have downloaded previous map versions that have been over 32 Gb. FYI mine is the PRO Nav system with has larger files than the Business version.

Yes exactly the same as me then. I wonder if it’s because I’m going from 2014 or 15 maps, I don’t think they were split east and west then were they so maybe it has to transfer more of the data. Who knows.

Issue found. I didn’t have a 32GB usb stick so I used a 64GB micro SD card in a usb card reader, read and write speeds in the computer seemed just as quick.
I’ve commandeered a 32GB usb stick from the wife on the promise of putting her stuff back on afterwards and the percentage is counting up immensely quicker, 2% took probably 1 minute. Saves the car idling in the garage for 10 hours lol.

Sounds about right. When I did my x3 several years ago with the NEXT map, it would always complete and reboot in approximately 35-40 minutes.

Yes, that probably explains the smaller file size. I don't remember updates being divided East - West Europe on updates from 2 or 3 years ago. I always use a 64 Gb USB after slow downloads previously. Glad you've found the issue. (y)

Hiya, is Road Map Europe West Next 2021-1 out yet?

I can see it available on some other websites but not BMW. I wanted to download it via BMW updated before my subscription runs out on the 31st. I wonder if I could download it and use the code from the updated for 2020-2?

I downloaded 2021-1 for my F30 about a month ago, so should be available on the BMW Connected Drive site.
But I know from what others have said in the past, not all versions of map update are available at the same time - ask @Singvogel.

My connected drive is only showing 2020-3 euro for mine. Will have another look in the new year.

Fab it is. Sorry I don’t get on my laptop as much to check and was just being lazy to power it on.

Downloading now (after all the numerous windows updates!) and that’ll be my last map update for now. Not that we can drive anywhere at the moment to make full use of it.

Might show in the new year.

I just checked and the activation code texted to me for this 2020-1 is the same as the previous map update 2020-2. So if your able to source the newer version of your Euro one, it might work.

If you want to stay ahead of the game without paying for the maps then the following forum can be very useful:

    https://mhhauto.com/

    https://mhhauto.com/Thread-BMW-FSC-update-lookup-xml-file-for-2021-maps

If you are unable to see or join the forum you will need to email the administrator and get an invitation code.

The forum is a very valuable resource for many aspects of the entire vehicle industry.

I used it constantly when my X3 (f25) went out of warranty where I obtained FSC codes and map updates.
