As I have said many a time, grab life by the knackers and do what you want. I have zero regrets about doing this, actually starting to get a bit excited about seeing it for the first time. Never ever deny yourself the pleasures. I might have to make a few sacrifices and the kids may get less dominos pizza but screw it. This is my life, I like cars. Just don't go in to the dealership on a whim "just to see", particularly if there is a calculator, pen and card machine near by. It always ends in speechless shock.................
As has been said many times All trade ins are worth a fortune at the mo…. But you need ‘shoe leather transport’ to benefit, ready for when the collapse comes afterwards….. that’s the time to buy the M3….. Sounds like a rubbish plan to me…. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’ve had a worrying rattle on start up for the past few months, vibration coming from the exhaust. Tracked it down to the OS rear pipe this morning, vibrates/rattles on start up but then calms down. Worried it was an internal issue with the back box and would need a warranty claim. Took out my rubber mallet out just now, carefully tapped off the rear exhaust tip, a stone fell out! Looks like it had been lodged in there, when the exhaust is cold there is space for it to vibrate, when the metal heats up and expands, it held the stone in place. Simple and free fix. Happy days.
MOT is due on 16th June, brake fluid service due in July, so booked them both on June 11th. Glad it is only a cheap service as I’m hoping to sell the car at some point in the summer, but sensible to keep the service fully up to date. Mind you, could be well into Oct…..Nov…..Dec before I see the new car.
Oh me! the excitement must be exhausting! We were in today, looking and advised, 2023 Q1 delivery of our tentative chosen model, so your not alone nor is it only BMW that is effected! Whilst my response was different! “Perfect for our predicament”
A Q3 Sportsback, primarily for the wife! then a …….. best not thread bomb! Edit/Update - Deal done March 2023 delivery Small Engine (what with efficiency, environment etc!) Black edition, Comfort & Sound pack, 20” Wheel & Leather upgrade, Towbar. Countdown…. nah! EDIT - Breaking News Didn’t think it correct to further thread bomb! Cancelled the Audi Q3 this morning, for a number of reasons. Primarily I want a Day Van So instead of Q3, it shall be an A3 S line to arrive in March 2023 In early discussion with an importer for a Japanese Import
Dropped the car off at Sytners for the MOT and brake fluid service an hour ago. Usual drive into the bay, keys collected, car driven into the service area. Ten mins later the customer services lady came across to check the details, she showed me an iPad with a “suspension check” on it. This showed the fronts were all green but both rears were in the red, she wasn’t too technical but said the suspension “needed a service”. I suggested this was an alignment issue, but as I’m waiting on a new car I won’t be looking to get this done. Yesterday I checked the tyres and both rears have perfectly balanced wear, so not sure that this is. Noticed that there is a lot more stock on the used lot, and many more new models in the showroom. Seems like things are relatively back to normal. Other than the prices that is….
I think i would be asking what she means by a "suspension service".....what is the diagnosis from the "BMW trained technician" and where is the evidence ? Leaking / misting shocks, worn bushes etc.
No mention on the visual check either. Clearly a sales pitch, no idea how the geometry can be checked in five mins by simply driving into a pad/sensor. https://video.citnow.com/vtKszZhd2wH 12 months MOT at least!
Wow! That’s efficiency, perhaps change the oil in the dampers, you’ve maybe been hasty declining, it could be something serious as above. Though likely doubtful and nothing more than an alignment check Worth looking at the health check video for more details
No advisory on the MoT for these "red" suspension issues ? Think i would be muttering "Fraud by misrepresentation"
Absolutely nothing spotted on the video, he even comments that the rear tyre wear is even at 5.2mm. Will ask the nice young lady for more details when I pay.
It gets better….got home to check the documents and the online MOT checker, they’ve kindly added 20K to the mileage! Looks like I’ve done 30K in the last 12 months. Had to call to get them to change it back, had to take a photo of my odometer to prove it. Good grief. Now anyone checking the MOT (worrying as I will be selling it in a month or three) shows the car has 46K rather than the real 26K. Hoping the mileage adjustment doesn’t cause a discrepancy on the MOT or any background checks.
New invoice and MOT sent to me via email, I’ve checked the VOSA website and all updated. Doesn’t show any change or discrepancy.
Agreed, however, this dealership has been excellent over the past five years or so I’ve used them, not had a problem before. Also, its how quickly a problem is resolved that shows whether a provider is worth their salt, and to be fair this was resolved within ten minutes of my call and they apologised profusely.
