Hi guys and gals, I finally made the pilgrimage from BMWLand after a tip off from Spuffington. Nothing has changed, not even my user name, and I still have the GT for the foreseeable future. Congrats to The CO and others for starting this forum and thank you. I look forwards to taking part in discussions and hopefully adding some knowledge.
Hello again, only found out the change in website by chance tonight. Great that it's up and running again, albeit under sad circumstances. Always valued the wealth of knowledge on BMWLand and am sure this site will be a success too. I've had the F30 320d since April this year after selling the E90 318d. Best car I've owned to date, fastest car I've owned to date, and by chance managed to find it in 'Luxury' guise... I'll be around to help others where I can, but hopefully as it's a little over 16 months old I hope it doesn't involve my car!
Great looking motor. Find the latest 3series so much better looking than its predecessor(s). Not sure when it went wrong (I like the very early 3s) and I'm sure they were nice cars to drive and own but always thought they looked kind of cheap. Sorry... Am I alone in thinking that?
Really? I thought both my E46 (both a coupe and a vert) were beautiful cars to behold; both when I owned them as the "current" 3er shape and also when I had the vert when the E90 was out. In fact, I think the E46 looks so good today that I'd still very happily run one (if I could find a minter which hadn't suffered at the hand of a slovenly owner or the ravages of time).
Agree with that. I also think the E36 was a looker, I owned a salon and a touring. Here is my 328i touring with sport pack on tour in France in 2000:
Got to agree ,I used to have a belter of a 328 mtec which was a fantastic looking car,but regretfully that was before the instant photography that we have now so a don't have any pics of it. ed.
You're right about mint E46s, they are few and far between. Most that I've seen are now in the graveyard of the boy racers, with fat exhausts and ridiculously low suspension. Every now and then I see a well kept model, and especially in convertible form, are still a looker. E90s still look quite sharp too - I also liked the extremely compact dash too. Talking of convertibles, I think the 3-series has been the best looking one out there since the E36, and a reason why in 2.5 years time I'll go the same route in the F3x incarnation!
