Only 16.5 mpg out of a diesel? Really? I would have thought at least double that, even if it's driven like it's been stolen.

We didn’t go for a Macan. Put off by dealerships we visited for quotes, although we had out a deposit down for one. We found a great deal of snobbery attached to Porsche dealers, the audacity of stating “they’re the best cars in the world” when their showroom is right across from a Ferrari dealers ….. really??? Anyhoo, after a great deal of head scratching, we have decided to return to an Italian manufacturer - although haven’t had an Italian car for nearly 20yrs. So, what have we ordered?? A Maserati Grecale Trofeo, arriving next week.

A shame you found that. In my experience, I’ve found them in general to be a good mix of welcoming but with a feeling of VIP treatment without any arrogance. I bought my first Macan from Porsche Hatfield but had it serviced exclusively thereafter by Porsche Cambridge, about whom I couldn’t speak highly enough. I bought my Cayenne GTS from Porsche Swindon (indeed in that case opposite Ferrari). Their customer service was a bit iffy but in fairness the bought back the car after it developed a number of issues.

Currently talking to Hatfield again about a nice Gen 1 (facelift) Macan GTS which is a lot cheaper than the Gen 2 GTS I looked at a few weeks ago yet will ultimately do the same job.

Hope you enjoy the Maser - I also looked at one but was too big for our needs and couldn’t get the wife comfortable with it. It’s more Cayenne size versus the Macan which is a bit more compact.
