well i am getting grief off the missus because i should be getting ready to go to the airport for my flight to Berlin, but i said I have got to post pictures before i go because if i don't I will be banned from the forums by the time i get back well here it is my new car, it is a march 2015 530D F07 with 9k on the clock from new and i love it, size is a bit daunting as it is quite tight getting on and off the drive and once on the drive it looks massive, i know it is only inches longer than the E60 but it just looks so big pictures are not the best and don't really do the car justice but given the limited time they will do for now, when i get home the car is going in for an ultimate new car detail and ceramic coating applied so after that is done i will post some more shiny new car pictures Badged or de badged that is the question? I prefer de badged and i don't know if i should just take the 530D off or take the GT off the other side as well
I agree with Spuff re the badges, and why do you want it to look like a 520d? You are very lucky with that spec, a very good buy. That car was probably £52k new. One thing that baffles me is why have they omitted fog lights from the later models. As far as I know the headlights are exactly the same as the older models and do not incorporate fog lights. Maybe just another why to get money out of us buying public by making fog lights an extra cost option, it obviously didn't work as I am yet to see a LCi model with them. What do you think of the fake aluminium trim inside? It looks great but you do need those bigger wheels on such a big car. Thanks for taking the time to post.
Also do you realise that the mirrors fold when you hold the lock button on the keyfob? And the same for the boot, just hold the button for the boot on the fob and it will power open/close.
Very nice Re debadge - keep them on, it's too big at the rear and expensive to refit The Windows and roof opens / closes (along with the roof blind) off the key too! And can switch on/off the interior ventilation
Thanks folks, I was aware that the mirrors fold by holding the key fob lock button but there is still lots of things i need to learn, for the first day i couldn't turn the ignition off when i stopped the car and now know a second push for the stop/start button is all it takes I hadn't even noticed that lack of front fogs and i have looked at the front many times, a while back i was looking at a pre registered one in rybrook shrewsbury and thought there was somthing missing from the front of the car, i know now what it was seems to be that general concensus is to leave the badges I have not had a sunroof fitted to any of my cars since the days of my 1989 ford orion injection ghia and with the aircon it is not something i had on my must have list but i am sure it will get used, the one thing i did like is how opening the blind lightens the cabin as the dark headlining and black seats make the cabin quite dar even on a bright day in the US on the 5GT they have a little compartment on the centre console for the key fob which i think is a good idea, i keep trying to shove it in the steering column every time i get in it
Pics were worth the wait..... I agree that different wheels would look better, but I'm going to stick my neck out and say "badges off"...... Safe trip and I'm sure the detail will only make a nice car look even better.
Very nice, congrats Agree with leaving the badges on, breaks up the (very large) rear. And yes it needs bigger wheels to complete the look. Enjoy!
the wheels will be staying for now due they have got good tyres on them so will be getting some use out of them before i look at changing them, i personally like a bit of sidewall showing and am not really a fan of all wheel wrapped in an small rubber band, some cars look like they are running along the road on the rims, there was an M4 in the showroom the other day and you couldn't see the tyre at all i would have looked at the size but the sidewalls were that small i couldn't see the writing also available funds are a bit short after a slight overspend on the new car and the next available funds will be spent on winter wheels/and tyres and they could be 18,s so even smaller than the 19,s that are fitted at present
I get what you're saying but even my 21" tyres have higher sidewalls than the equivalent M4/M3 on 19" wheels. Because the overall diameter is so massive you can get away with it on the F07.
Well done! I'm sure you'll enjoy the ride... every time! I'm with Slim. Normally I'm not bothered about badges, but in this case, with no obvious chrome present on the entire car, I think a 'clean' rear would complement it.
It seems a bit strange that the car has shadowline trim and then chrome vents on the wings chrome grills and chrome badges, I hated the chrome trim on the E60 AS it was all water stained and it looked horrible but was expensive to change let's hope the shadowline stays looking better, the car was left with meet and greet parking at 15.30.so I hope they look after it for me , staying at airport tonight ready for an early flight as I didn't fancy setting off at 3.00am
Which airport? If it was Heathrow you could have parked in my driveway and I'd have given you a lift to the terminal. I'm only 3 miles away from Terminal 4/5.
It is manchester airport which is our nearest airport at two to two and a half hours run, heathrow is five hours for us on a good day and who knows on a bad day, last time in d did lhr was 2007 ba flight to San Fran but it is miles quicker for us to drive to Manchester and get the ba shuttle to lhr
