Good to see you are getting the next generation hooked on the ICE....good! Will be all electric by the time that young chap starts his car career. Sounds like the unit will need replacing. Thank goodness for that warranty I’d say.
What you are describing is a common problem with BMW of this era. I fully recommend this guy to repair. He is very honest and efficient. My FIL X5 535d had similar symptoms so I sent the unit off to these guys. He contacted me a day after it arrived to say there was nothing wrong. After a further 4 days of testing he declared it not broken. If he was dishonest he could just as easily have said he repaired it and charge me £300. Instead there was only the postage costs. In my case the fault was some dodgy wiring in the front fuse box by the previous owner. https://mca.electricmura.ro/en/repa...MIprOr0s626AIVCbLtCh1W4gZoEAAYASAAEgJKZ_D_BwE Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I hope everyone is well! Its been a busy time for me and my poor car has sat on the driveway since the 22nd March collecting dust and generally looking sorry for itself. I managed to grab some time today to spend an hour giving the car a quick spruce prior to giving it that complete inside and out clean, really impressed with the detailed online waterless wash and wax for the time it took I think the results are pretty damn good. I am by no means a car detailer but I personally am pretty happy with the results all things considered. Had to order a C-tek charger as well, given the reviews from almost everyone I am hoping that will stop my battery from becoming miserable!
Waiting to get mine back hopefully this afternoon so I can clean it at the weekend and use it to go to work for the rest of the week Looks good Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I bet you will be a happy man to have it back, glad BMW got it fixed quickly even if the warranty didn't cover it.
My first and probably only upgrade to the car with thanks to M3POWERBOY, I upgraded my lights to the Halo LED's and I think they look a lot nicer! Old lights Untitled by Brian McGinty, on Flickr Some wire management, fiddling and squeezing Untitled by Brian McGinty, on Flickr Untitled by Brian McGinty, on Flickr A bit of blood Untitled by Brian McGinty, on Flickr And the end result is this Untitled by Brian McGinty, on Flickr Untitled by Brian McGinty, on Flickr Not the best time to take photos of lights but they look a lot better now. Next job is the Ctek charger tomorrow.
Looks better. I have my ctek wired in so I just have a plug under the bonnet to connect it to and run it out under the bonnet so I can lock the car whilst it is charging Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Maybe ill craft a similar solution in due course, for now, and for speediness ill just connect it under the bonnet and lock the car with an extension lead out of the window for a day just so I put some juice back into the battery
Car looks lovely after the tlc. Can I suggest giving the tyres a good scrub and then dressing them with Meguires Endurance or AutoFinesse Satin as it’ll really finish the car off
Thank you and you are 100% right I will grab some for when the car gets it rightly deserved clean from top to bottom!
I also have the connector on the car that has the three flashing led’s so you can see the state of battery charge when connecting and disconnecting Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Exactly what I have ordered off amazon M8 version as the one that came with the charger was too small I tried dremeling it out but sadly that didn't work, So come Monday I will have 2 of these led leads 1 for my car and 1 for the wifes.
Went to fit the Ctek charger leads and initially found the eyelets were too small so rather than being sensible and just ordering more... I took the dremel to them and Untitled by Brian McGinty, on Flickr This would have been great had I not cranked the bolt down with the strength of a Bison Untitled by Brian McGinty, on Flickr FECK and now the eyelet lives down there somewhere Untitled by Brian McGinty, on Flickr Oh well Amazon to the rescue Screenshot 2020-04-23 at 08.36.06 by Brian McGinty, on Flickr Will try that again when it arrives.
New leads came from amazon so got it all connected up and glad I did, on the initial connection the traffic light system was flashing red I guess a month sitting still can't be that surprised. Untitled by Brian McGinty, on Flickr Untitled by Brian McGinty, on Flickr Untitled by Brian McGinty, on Flickr Will probably have to improve the overall installation but its done a job for now Untitled by Brian McGinty, on Flickr Untitled by Brian McGinty, on Flickr by Brian McGinty, on Flickr Now since being on a charge from around 7 pm yesterday it's on stage 4, hopefully I have caught it in time don't fancy a large bill for a battery and having it coded to the car! Have got the car out a few times as of late only to be met with the complete cluster ****** of traffic now in the area due to a combination of gas works and the council closing roads on the quiet, a petition is now in place to reverse this as its caused traffic in areas which rarely saw cars absolute joke. Anyhow it has given me the opportunity to use this CollageMaker_20200728_183040338 by Brian McGinty, on Flickr I was in that stationary long enough to watch the entire episode... After that mess a trip to Coventry was in order and the Q5 aircon isn't working so the M6 was let loose and what a joy it was until the 60mph average zone but I saw something I never thought I would.. Screenshot_20200805_225108 by Brian McGinty, on Flickr Then it was MOT time yesterday no problems sailed through and now back on the drive after a job well done. Next job is to get it cleaned again then booked into BMR.
