Went over a really big pothole I did nt see on the passenger side the other week on my way to the local Tesco s . Needless to say I had the top down as it was a beautiful evening , After doing my shopping I noticed the soft close function on the boot was nt working and I knew right away what the problem was . On getting home I had a quick look and saw that my soldering on the wiring of the right hand side microswitch had come undone and there was absolutely no way of soldering again as there was just nothing left to actually solder to. BMW do not sell these microswitches separately , preferring to sell you a complete boot lid locking unit for over £700 + complete with microswitches . So ? Because the soft close is nt working the ECU thinks the boot is open it therefore won t allow the hard top to go up and close , so I now have for the time being a permanent top down convertible . Ive purchased a second hand boot locking mechanism complete with microswitches , same BMW Part Number etc and i ve tested them on the garage workbench , all good so far ,BUT? the microswitches on it did nt come with connectors , which is nt really a problem as i can fit alternative ones , BUT,as the connectors had been cut off I decided in my infinite wisdom to just put new male and female connectors on , Without taking a note of which wire connects to which ,as the colour of wiring coming from the wiring loom on the boot are different colours to the wires on the microswitches ! Some silly bugger ( me ) forgot to keep the old connectors ! So? the wires i have on the microswitches are Blue Black Green the wires from the boot lid wiring room are Brown Brown/ Red Stripe Black Does anyone know which wire connects to which ? Thanks in advance Murray .
Erm. That could be a lucky dip, I recall extending ambient lighting and wiring an led doing something similar to confirm the open close circuit of the microswitch which would leave one wire… I’d bench test the microswitch, then flick test the wires whilst somebody operates the switch, though so many permutations A google search brings up several sites for wiring diagrams “bmw wiring diagrams” Feeling your pain
