Out shopping with the wife yesterday at Booths supermarket, Knutsford. Leaving the carpark, there is a short, narrow exit with tall kerbs a foot each side of the car. Across the exit was a queue of cars waiting for traffic lights a few yards away to change. As the traffic started to move, one of the cars flashed his lights to let me in, I quickly did a sharp right turn and felt the bump as my rear wheel caught the kerb. Damn! I had the diamond cut alloys refurbished a year ago and now one of them would have the dreaded kerb rash. I felt annoyed and totally deflated on the way home. :(

When I looked at the rim, guess what - not a kerbing mark in sight. What a relief. The 19 inch low profile 403M alloys are lethal for getting kerb rash. How lucky was I. :woohoo:

Been there, done that, but didn't get away with it. ☹️
It was a while back, on the F30, but I still feel the pain.

phew, a close shave... good it had a happy ending. I know that stomach churning feeling only too well.
Have only kerbed my current set once when i was making way for an ambulance on call coming in the opposite direction (narrow side street) ... but that was once to many

Adie, when my car was only a few months old, I damaged my rear wheel on that very same carpark and you supplied me with a replacement alloy, if you remember. So really pleased that I got away with it this time. :)

One of the most gut wrenching noises for the discerning car owner! Glad you got away with it.

Scuffed the NS on the G22 within weeks of getting owning it, had to avoid some numpty in a flatbed truck.

I have diamond cut edges on my 21” wheels, I have touched the kerb a couple of times, but got away with it. I know the feeling though when you think you’ve damaged a wheel and the drive of shame home.

No shame - just disappointment. It can happen to anyone - those low profile tyres have no rim protection on them. As much as brush a kerb and it's odds on it will be marked. But Hey Ho, I shall be ultra careful from now on.

Not sure you got away that lightly shopping in Booths

I know the car park also. I usually take my elderly father there once a week.

@Mieke that shows restraint driving all the way home before checking. There may have been one or more occasion :whistle:when I have been out with my iphone torch at the first available layby after a kerb encounter to check for kerb rash with a less than happy wife in the passenger seat..
Thankfully my 20" diamond cut alloys have tyres fitted with a decent rim protector so no issues yet and winters are 18" with relatively large side walls.

Oh so true! We go there every now and again as a little treat, and then remortgage the house to pay the bill. It becomes even more expensive when you consider the cost of alloys refurbishment. :D

Seriously though, the food at Booths is the best quality, and is more like a giant delicatessen than a supermarket.
