E39 rear transmission noise

Any luck with finding out whether it was the tyres? I've got a similar noise in my e39 528i... the noise only seems to come driving over 50mph (is loudest at 50mph) and does seem to come to life only after a minute or so driving at that speed. Sounds like it's from the offside rear but could be deceptive.

 

Hi Keiran, sorry not been on here for ages. I eventually took the car to some super BMW guys near here. They checked the car over and test drove it several times. They decided it was road noise from the Michelin Cross Climate tyres. We shall see.
