Further to an airbag recall in 2019 posted by Wilseus here:

    http://www.bmwland.org.uk/index.php?threads/airbag-recall.2639/

I received a recall notice from BMW today for the driver's airbag on my 2014 640d.

"The driver's airbag fitted to your BMW needs to be replaced. If you are involved in a collision the airbag may deploy with too much explosive force, causing sharp metal fragments to be released into the cabin. It has the potential to fatally or seriously injure vehicle occupants"

Obviously this may be period specific for my 2014 model.

I think it is period specific. I checked on my car (2016 F10 M5) and there is no recall, then checked my old car registration (2014 535d F11) and that one has been recalled.

I've just received a recall notice to replace the driver's side airbag on my 2015 F30 330d.
Hopefully it is a quick procedure that could be done while I wait?
