Goodbye F10 520d M-Sport (and BMW for now)
Well the time has come to say goodbye to my 2014 F10 520d M-Sport, purchased as an AUC from Cooper Reading (remember them?) at just shy of 3 years old and some 20k miles.on the clock in 2017.
8 years later at 149k miles it has served me very well (the best car I have owned since the 320d before it!) It's had nothing wrong with it in all those miles just usual servicing, EGR recall x2, tyres, brakes & last year a couple of tie rod ends as it was starting to knock on the front end. Main dealer history up to 100k miles then an independent after that (RBM in Hampshire) Probably could have got more privately but sold to WBAC at an acceptable price, hopefully it serves it's next owner well!
I just don't do the mileage these days (change of job) and have controversially (for this forum!) gone full EV with a new Tesla M3 RWD which I have had for the last month. Too early to fully comment on the Tesla but I can see why there are so many on the road! £500 of... -
Update on new X3
So I promised an update on my new to me 2023 X3 after a had done a few miles and towed my boat with it.
I have had a couple of issues with it but these are now sorted, issue 1, it turns out the car had been sat for sale for seven weeks and therefore both front and rear brake discs were heavily corroded, after a couple of hundred miles they had actually got worse with quite a judder under braking. Issue two was I noticed the rear tyres were brand new and the fronts were just over 3mm, having put a deposit down and made an appointment the test drive the dealer knew I was coming and had the car freshly valeted so all 4 tyres were covered with tyre shine and I had not noticed the difference in tread depth. Anyway with a bit of persuasion the dealer has fitted new front and rear disc and pads.
I raised the tyres issues advising I understood all tyres should be within 2mm of each other and four tyres should have been fitted but this was initially declined but thanks to a conformation... -
Kleynie is back in a BMW!
Hi all, I hope everyone is doing well.
After a year in a Golf GTD, I was getting itchy feet to get back into a BMW. We still have the Macan as the family car and the golf was only ever meant to be a run about for me to use for work. The Golf served me well to be fair, but it just wasnt special enough, so I sold it a couple of weeks back.
I set myself a budget of £12k and managed to get this lovely 640d M Sport 2016 LCi with 63K miles in Carbon black for £11k. Such a lot of car for the money.
The spec includes HUD, 6WB cluster, Comfort seats, speed limit display, Harman Kardon, 20" wheels, LED headlights, to name a few. Loving it so far and I just got 642 miles to a £90 tank of Tesco fuel. Thats more than the GTD used to do.
First mod is High Beam assist as I have the KAFAS camera for the speed limit info.
First question - can someone explain to me how the USB audio interface is meant to work? I have an iphone 15 and it seems to do nothing when plugged in. (maybe I...
