well I got the Amarok about 2 months ago...replaced my 530D company car...tax was getting ridiculous at £600 a month if I replaced with the same...

So it’s the V6 3.0 litre and I’m quite happy with it.

    Nice drone work.

I've been thinking of one of these for my wife would be interested in hearing more about it.

Well it’s pretty big, can be difficult for in-town parking, that’s about the only negative.

I’m averaging 30mpg with vpower and it sits nicely at 70mph in 8th gear. You can spec it up quite good, mine is the highline model and has the upgraded sound system with Apple CarPlay. It’s great for when you need to pick up large items.

You get familiar with the parking size after a while.
These trucks are getting very good to drive these days , a huge improvement from when my son got his first Isuzu back in 2005.
I recently tried the latest Ford Ranger and was very impressed. Then you have the "Merc" and "Fiat" models that are just rebadged Japanese models.
When my son swapped his Isuzu he looked at the VW but was surprised at the cost when compared with the Ford and Isuzu.
He now runs a top of range Isuzu DMax [this being his 5th] but I am not sure about the latest Isuzu- that has gone done from 3.0 litre to 1.9 litre but this seems to be the trend
His latest is Auto , leather , Hard Back with fitted draws , gps , raised suspension , IMG_7338.JPG etc. He also keeps a second set of tyres[BFG Mud Terrain] for serious off road use The warrantee is 5 years limited to 125,000mile [first 3 years unlimited. In the last 3 DMax's two never had a claim, this one has had the front discs replaced twice under warrantee.
For collecting large items , just use the Ivor Williams
He actually cured the parking in London , by using his Cooper S in town.

Well I’m quite happy with mine, standard is 258bhp, but I have a tuning box taking it to 300bhp. It’s more car like in terms of comfort than any of the others I test drove before buying. Yes it’s more expensive, however I think that’s reflected in the quality of it.

I note your comments about using a Tuning Box ---we have in fact used them on two previous trucks . BUT on the last one we attached a box to ,when it went in for service the dealer warned us to be careful of having a box on as he saw we had one ---even though we had removed it prior to service---- it still showed on the car system. The insurance were not happy about us having one and wanted to increase premiums Interestingly Toyota offer a unit for theirs and that does not effect the insurance or warrantee, as its a manufacturer option
I am more concerned with the trend towards most trucks reducing the engine size ,but I am stuck in my ways of a nice big engine.
My son is often pulling the Land Rover Ser 1 on the Ivor Williams and has no shortage of power. Just wonder what the small engine is like.
I don't think any of the trucks vary much in quality, have a look at the truck made by "The Great Wall" the quality is really good ,yet the price is a fraction of the others.
I think all the trucks have now become more like driving a car, and the service costs on the Isuzu [I don't know about other makes] are a lot cheaper than car service cost.
I even see the tyres for them are cheaper than "star" tyres for the BMW.

I think they do vary in quality, that’s subjective I guess. VW is probably the only one bucking the trend, the Amarok started life with a 2.0l and is now available in the 3.0l.

I’ve already declared the tuning box to insurance, as for the dealer servicing - we’ll see.

Interesting to see if they keep the big engine in a year or so , The Isuzu went from 2.5 up to 3.0 before going down to 1.9 litre I think the Ranger is now at 3.2 litre.
The industry trend --in by biased opinion wrongly--seem to be dropping engine size.
I would always keep the service in main dealer until truck/car is out of warrantee.
My son's dealer is a Isuzu truck main dealer , that supplies the whole range of the Isuzu range.
Our insurer wanted around £60 extra for having a tuning box.

Im currently driving this from work whilst I wait for a van which I will hopefully get in the next month or so

Averaged 37mpg on my 35 mile commute to work yesterday so not too shabby.

Not sure I could have one long term though.

    Enjoy
