Updates, updates, updates ......... Well I have updated my trusty lap-top to Windows 10 - I'm not sure yet if its an improvement over Windows 8 or not. Only time will tell. But what happened to Windows 9 - did I miss that? Anyhow here we go again - an old dog having to learn new tricks. But the real reason for this post is to tell you all that Continental's ContiSportContact 6 tyres have arrived. See here for a review: http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/Continental-Sport-Contact-6-First-Drive.htm Anyone fancy them when new boots are called for next? Surprisingly they are OE equipment on the new Honda Civic Type R - so the Honda must be a 'mean machine'. The only 'mean machine' that I have is the George Foreman grill. The CSC 6s are (surprise surprise) not made in my size which is probably just as well as I don't really have the BHP to justify such exotic grippy rubber anyway. I'm still running ContiSportContact 2 tyres as they are the only Sports tyres Conti make that are available in my front and rear sizes. I like to have the same make tyres with the same tread pattern all round so until my E90 is updated/replaced with something newer it's CSC2s for me. Apart from the Windows 10 the only other thing I've updated recently has been replacing my Ray Bans with a new pair with the latest type of gradient lenses - for me they have to be prescription lenses too - so not cheap. Since I bought my last Ray Bans I see that they are no longer made by Bausch & Lomb in the US of A - but a company called Luxottica in Italy. But they are same good old Ray Bans - vintage but not stuck in the past says the advertising blurb - must be a bit like me then.
Currently running a full new set of FK453's on my E46 and I'm more than happy with them. I don't bother with windoze anymore either tbh, the latest OSX serves me very well. I like your kilt though
Further to this. My daughter is running windows 10 (there was no 9) and it is, according to her, what windows 8 should have been.
I'm running windows 10 on one of my PC's but am getting a lot of incompatibility issues with older drivers etc. may go back to Windows 7 again.
I have bitten the bullet and gone back to Windows 7 Pro x64 on all 3 of my machines. Problems were as follows: My Macbook pro 2011 was a dual boot machine and every time I started Windows 10 it would hiccup and restart. Drove me mad, so gave up. I have a an overclocked to i720 with Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi and found that it would not work...no sound. This is a Creative Labs problem. Also my TeamSpeak setup would not work when I was sorting out problems on the Game Server I run in Buffalo NY. I have a second (far older dual core) standby machine and that had similar problems.
I'm liking Windows 10 seems to have sorted most of the issues with 8. @Singvogel just replaced my Rays Bans but with Maui Jims - lenses are good and made from Titanium so very light (but also not cheap )
I haven't quite made up my mind on Windows 10 yet - I do see a lot of things that are better, but I need more time to familiarize myself with all the short-cuts and improvements. Mrs Singvogel is sticking with Windows 8 for the time being - I'm the guinea-pig as far as updates are concerned. Re: Maui Jims - which model did you get - the ones with the parrot logo? I was looking at them a few weeks back, and quite liked a few of the models, but eventually decided to stick with the classic aviator shape. I agree - not cheap!
Like the sound of the CSC6, but not made in our E92's size, which is a pity as new tyres - certainly on the rear - will be due before winter. I guess it will be the CSC3 that get fitted, really good price at Camskill, and still a good tyre from what I've read. Unless anyone knows any different of course....
I'm almost certain CSC3 RFTs are not manufactured in 255/40/17. But I think they are available as non RF.
I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7, am still undecided as yet as to whether it s better or just more complicated , suppose I ll get used to it eventually. .
I'm holding fire on the upgrade [although it is available to install on my laptop now] to see if any bugs crawl out of the OS in the near future. Can't upgrade desktop without changing out my graphics card as Win 10 has no drivers for it. Not sure I want the added expense for an [as yet] unquantified benefit.
Wise decision slim. I am having to keep my eye on the sound card drivers from Sound Blaster because of no sound for my X-FI card. I may try again after they release updated ones.
