Never a nice read & hope you get it repaired As mentioned, wonderful things and cosseted drive but when they go wrong their very frustrating, was the demise of my ownership! albeit still miss that car
I gave up on LR at the P38 ( Engines and Air Bags mainly ,with an awful dealer) then over to BMW 5 sers . For off road my son uses a Isuzu DMax , an amazing truck, just goes anywhere. He does keep 3 full sets of wheels and raised it 2" (Isuzu Kit) This one is his 5th first was 05 reg , this one 14r eg and only down 65,000 miles yet.
Thanks for the replies and wishes of support. The parts came in and they've assured me it'll be ready for pick up tomorrow. Watch this space, hoping they don't run in to any other issues along the way. Would've preferred to get it back today so can run it around a day or so prior to our trip to Eire on Friday. The trip to Eire will be interesting, getting to know the car more and it's ways fully loaded with the family! Took out some comprehensive breakdown cover last night, I do miss the BMW warranty for this!
Good luck, enjoy the trip, just be a little cautious initially going round corners too quickly fully loaded they tend to roll more than the x5
Yep will be taking it easy, getting to know it’s ways. They weigh just over 3 ton, won’t be as capable on the corners as the X5. Will miss having the odd bit of fun in the Sport mode +! Pick-up scheduled for tomorrow. Another nudge this afternoon, I did apologise for being high maintenance but she was fine about it. They’ve identified something else now! Coffee spilt on the USB’s causing battery drain?! Never heard that before. They disabled the USB’s but asked if I wanted them replacing, so agreed but silly me forgot to ask ow much so goodness knows what that will be. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
Hopefully it will be reliable and you’ll enjoy the LR experience after these initial issues. Probably worth joining the disco 5 forum https://disco5.co.uk/forum/, I was a member of the disco 4 one, lots of useful info, but as with a lot of forums probably a lot of scary bits too!
So… we’re in Eire, but not in the Disco. They left it until yesterday to install the telematics. Call received saying they had difficulties coding to the car and have had to escalate it to Technical! Aired some frustration that they had the part since Tuesday so why wait until the day due to pick up, but they said they’d scheduled other jobs as it wasn’t aware if the part was going to be on back order. They also explained it’s usually a straight forward job! Well at least their earning the £700 labour charge! I seem to be doomed getting this back! So for a few days as I wasn’t able to hire a car as too short notice and availability, rocking it the mother in laws E46! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
E46 must feel a bit different, space and ride might be restricted compared to the X5 and Disco .....will handle better though!!!
Well Ireland was good, the E46 lived up to expectations, the odd flicker of the coolant light, but I expect as it was fully loaded foot down the A55 it wondered what an earth was going on. Also I topped the water up a few months ago and I reckon the coolant is watered down now. Will get it checked now on next service. Still no real update on the Disco, it was escalated to Technical, then Engineering. Latest update is that it needs a software fix/update. They are waiting for this to be sent by JLR and give no indication of time scales. Local dealership say it's out of their hands, but in fairness raised a case with Retail JLR and gave me the reference. A call to them and a bit of constructive feedback about the whole experience and challenges without the car, I got offered a hire car of up to £60 per day for 2 weeks. So now trying to source a hire car. Their preferred partner is Enterprise and offered a corporate code to get discount. Got a people carrier booked through main office number and then the local office call to say not available! So waiting to hear back what they have (hopefully a XC60 as opposed to a Quashqai)!
What a pain for you. I spoke with my Enterprise area manager this week, he stated that all regions/depots were struggling with stock. As a group they ordered new cars months ago, but nothing is coming through to them currently. My order for this week was a Focus, I ended up with a Lexus….and I was lucky, most of my colleagues are having to use their own cars.
Not a good start to your change of brand, but sounds like they are doing the best they can to help resolve the car issues. Might we worth asking the dealer if they could loan you one of their pool cars, especially if Enterprise are struggling to supply anything compatible. Fingers crossed that they can get it sorted quickly.
Well I've managed to sourcea hire car, not a people carrier, but one of their SUV Premium collection and with a further 20% discount. A Volvo Xc60 Inscription T8. I must say, very impressed with the Volvo! I can see why it is premium. It has loads of goodies on it, well put together , solid with no rattles. It has 25000 miles and has had 3 new ditch finder tyres fitted! That aside, Hybrid model so seems to be pretty economical and pokey. Can't really grumble about the loaner and will be satisfactory until the Disco comes home. I visited Landrover today to get the child seats out of it. Checked in and helped myself to a refreshing diet coke can from the fridge. Waited almost 15 minutes to be seen. Didn't get to see the car, they brought the seats to me which I found a bit odd so must be stowed away somewhere! Still no news, waiting for the file from JLR. The software patch/update must be bespoke to the chassis perhaps which is why it's taking so long. I also received my replacement boot cover today which was missing from the Disco. Like new so happy with that. The dealership arranged to send me one as it was missing.
Hi all, just a bit of an update on this. The car is back! Starts on the button and no SOS error. All repaired and the supplying dealership £1800 lighter as a result. There were no issues coughing up the money to Landrover, however they have negotiated on the breakdown recovery costs. I'm just putting a line under it now and moving on. I picked up Wednesday lunchtime and then spent some time giving her a bit of a detail, she is a big beast! I also put on some new plates from the dealership, quite surprised by these as they are aluminium. I also fitted some new genuine all weather rubber mats and boot liner mat and the boot load cover they ordered for me. It is great to be back in the car, the kids love it and said the TV car is back! Wife hesitant to get back behind the wheel as she forgot how big it is, but she did say this when we first got the X5 and then got used to driving it about. She's worried about parking it in car parks, luckily as youngest is 5 we can still get away with kids club parking as I call it. I also tanked her up with Costco's finest. Well twice as they really need to change the pay at pump limit from £99 to say £150. It'll be interesting to see real life MPG, the OBC indicates 27 to the gallon on the way home, I got 29 long term average in the X5, but this Disco weighs almost a ton more. I notice too as certainly not as nimble as the X5, but I'm happy with the more refined drive as a compromise. So hopefully many more happy miles to come, thanks to those following this thread and words of wisdom and good wishes. I'll keep it updated as I go along.
