Setting off today for Scotland - Dumfries and Galloway - to join the start early tomorrow morning of a Scottish road trip arranged through Route GT.

Am insured on my neighbours E89 Z4 3.5is DCT which has M Performance upgrades plus tuned to around 400bhp :driving:

    FB_IMG_1759830711016.jpg

There are 22 cars including an i8, various Porsche and Audis.

Tomorrow we do 3 passes in Dumfries and Galloway before heading up to near Oban for the night. Shall try and add some photos/details along the way. It finishes on Saturday. Looking forward to Skye, Glencoe and the Old Military Road and hopefully some roof down weather

Sounds fab. Would love to do something similar but with a 6 hour drive to get to Dumfries, in a Mini vert, it has some downsides...

Fabulous morning running over 3 passes in Dumfries and Galloway. Empty roads and some quick driving. Passes were: Malvern Pass, Mennock Pass, and the B740 and amazing roads to stop outside Kilmarnock. Around Glasgow and now just outside Oban. Lid off the morning and on this afternoon. Bit wet pm past Loch Lomond and onto Lochgilphead. Looking forward to tomorrow 20251008_093551.jpg

Brilliant update. Sounds like an epic driving adventure. I bet some of those cars struggled to keep up with the Megane tin-top convertible….

Are you enjoying the Z4? A wee bit different to the G31 I’d wager.

It's a beast...owner says its tuned to 428bhp. The Cayman 4.0 GTS could not pull away!!

Noisy in comparison to the G31 but rides surprisingly well on Scottish tarmac

I know those roads pretty well. My uncle used to live in S Connell for a long time and then on Shian/Appin and spent a lot of time driving to those places along those roads.

    Enjoy!

Lovely pics, shame about the bloke stood next to the car  spoiling the view. Love the pass names sound really good let down slightly by the B road name not quite so romantic. Looks like a lot of fun and hope you are enjoying it. More photos please.

Amazing day today. Oban up to the A82 was OK, a little busy and drizzle but then OMG the A82 did not disappoint...fabulous fast road with spectacular scenery especially prior to dropping down into Glencoe. A stop before Glencoe for a coffee and through Fort William and onto the A87, another fabulous road. Stop at the famous castle and a brief trip over the bridge onto Skye and down to the Torabhaig Distillery before turning back to Nairn where we are currently staying. Quite tiring but exhilarating! Some photos from this day:

Thanks for continuing to share. It brings back many happy memories from the area.

Ironically, I've had as many happy moments driving those roads in motorhomes as I have in performance saloons, coupe's and SUVs. It's such a stunning part of the world and with the general lack of traffic (compared with the busy south-east), it's pure motoring nirvana.

I'm considering a trip up there in my 911 in due course but always difficult to do so sans family. But wife has tacitly signed it off for sometime in late 26/2027.

Continue to enjoy and stay safe! :D

Wow and wow! Loving the updates, keep them coming. These photos are making me even more excited as to May 2026, I've booked a bucket list type get away for a week, and it involves quite a few of these roads. (y)

Driving my car up to Perth and collecting this beauty, so not quite a performance coupe/estate/open top sports car, but the scenery will be just the same...!

Best day so far today....apart from one of the guys writing off their Nissan 370z...notoriously twitchy rear end...apparently! Luckily no one else involved. The roads off the NC500 in central north Scotland are immense as there is nobody here.

Very tired as did 290 miles today. Will try and do a proper report afterwards. A few pics of today from Nairn to Ullapool and then north before turning off on a long 34 mile mostly single track road passed Loch Shin.

Now back home on what has been an absolutely superb trip. You hear about the beauty of Northern Scotland but it still takes your breath away. And it just keeps on giving whereas other parts of the UK have small pockets of beauty in comparison.

The roads we used were fast and empty. Generally the road surfaces are brilliant allowing for fast driving. If you do meet another vehicle it's not long before you can overtake.

Can't recommend the organisers Route GT highly enough. Each day is planned out. You are given radios and preloaded sat nav then you can also use Google or Waze by scanning the route from the book. Petrol stops if needed are mentioned particularly for 98/99 ron. The hotels were good and the other participants fab company. Some good banter over the radios.

Onto the final day from Nairn down the borders via The Old Military Road, the A939 up into the Cairngorms and then past Balmoral and Braemar Castles before rising again to Glenshee ski centre for lunch. Onto Perth and then onto "usual" roads South. A few pics from the final day:

A total of 1500 miles round trip from Cheshire. Favourite road is a difficult one but for driving the A832 from Gorstan west of Inverness to Loch Maree will live long in the memory.
