Yet again another post on brakes.

I finally got round to fitting my 2 piece rotors and they look so good I don’t want to use them - how silly is that?

    And after

    Not being negative
But the purpose of those is..?? Assume stopping quicker….??
Cost versus ordinary, versus lifespan etc..?
    Can you advise.?
    Thanks
    Al

    I will try and answer…

The standard rotors are referred to as 1.5 piece rotors and even with 25% discount are £768 from a MB dealer.

The 2 piece rotors are lighter, cheaper and reportedly provide better performance under extreme conditions.

My original rotors were close to their minimum thickness, so needed replacing quite soon anyway.

I also fitted some new pads with a a GG friction rating, rather than the FF rating of the standard pads.

Are they like the EBC Yellow Stuff pads, intended for 'fast road' use?

No, they are actually made by TRW who also make the rear callipers on my car (the fronts are by Brembo).

I did a fair bit of research about different pads and many of them have their friction rating printed on the back, so I picked the TRW’s which also had a couple of positive reviews. I will see how I get on with them, but expect them to perform at least as well as the MB pads - which are actually made by Textar.
