No idea, but I would have assumed that there's a contact button somewhere on their webpage?

We were up at Dumfries in South-West Scotland for a family wedding over the Easter weekend. The venue was a large country house hotel, set in acres of landscaped grounds alongside the River Nith. So we left our hotel in Dumfries and entered the destination of the village near the venue, after which I did a search of the POI's and found the country hotel where we were headed.

We had a journey of around 8 miles and the Sat Nav took us along country roads in what appeared to be the correct direction. I started to have doubts when the Nav instructions took us up an unmetalled track past a farm, and we ended up at a large country B&B guest house, with only 3 cars parked outside, but obviously not the venue.. The guesthouse proprietor told us that the hotel we were looking for was about a mile away on the opposite side of the river. The only problem was that it was a 10 mile road journey to get there. So it was mad dash - flying along empty (fortunately) country roads , and luckily managed to get there before the bride arrived, with just 5 minutes to spare. All together now! . . . . "Get me to the church on time"

This is the second serious error that I've experienced in the last month, since installing the 2018-1 maps version. I'm assuming that the cause is the map upgrade, but don't know for sure. I sincerely hope that BMW get this sorted out before the next version comes out. :(

Had an uncannily similar experience in late Feb, when we journeyed down to Hampshire to attend a family funeral. Original plan had us arriving well ahead of time to meet other family members, but thanks to sending us up a lane with a non-existent link to the road we should've been on, we had to backtrack and go the long way round. Arrived with minutes to spare. Obviously the BMW map was right, it was just that whoever built the roads was wrong...

Was looking for a Sat Nav thread :)

The Pro Nav on my M140 is a bit... cack.

We live in Southampton and wet to Chester Zoo and Alton Towers this week, the BMW Nav ( I assume they're all the same version) seems to be confused about what "Fastest Route" means. I found it regularly took us through small country lanes and villages, many with low speed limits, tractors etc. Now obviously it can't account for tractors, but taking us off A roads to head down narrow B roads and small villages seems like it's configured incorrectly. TA first I thought it was using "Shortest Route" but after checking and double checking it's definitely set to "Fastest" by default.

We actually found the printed directions form Google Maps to take us in a much more sensible route, so it meant we had printed directions to cross check against if the Nav looked like it was taking us off the beaten track. I can't help feeling we'd have made better progress if we'd used the printed directions exclusively. Kind of defeats the objects of using it on long drives to unfamiliar locations.

Also, it has a weird turn of phrase, using "Keep left" instead of "Take the slip road" for example...

Is anyone else's experience similar to mine?

Interesting, how do you do that? If I share my Google Maps directions to BMW Connected I get an error message saying BMW Remote can't find the location (and displays the entire route as part of the error messages. I can't do a screenshot because apparently it's disabled by a security policy I haven't set!!

Te other annoying thing it was doing on the way up was ignoring the Toll road even though it's configured to use them....

I used to get similar bad routes. Not any more. It is a long time since I looked at it all but somewhere I asked it to take me via motorways and so on and so forth. Please do not ask me where the settings are, but it is not just fast routes you have to set. I did it several years ago and have forgotten.... sorry. Next time I am in the car I will look to see what I did to the settings.

If you haven't already done it, I would not update the maps to the latest 2018-1 version. I've experienced a couple of major errors with mine, and I know that several others have had problems. So I would wait until 2018-2 maps are available when hopefully BMW will have fixed the issues.

Cheers Gunrunner - on mine it looks like there are only a few options and they're not tickboxes but selections, so for example it is Fastest Route OR Shortest Route, but you can't have both, I will check though and see if there are other ways...

I send to car as well. Please correct me if I am wrong, but all that is doing is giving the BMW Sat nav (Pro in my car) the place to go to, so it still sends me via the fastest and not shortest. I never send a route!

So for instance, I go to google maps, type in the address location, send to phone and select it, and gives me the option to "send to your phone". I select that option and then it gives me the option of sending to car or email address. It ALWAYS sends me via the fastest route and uses RTTI and diverts me if there is a problem on route!

I can't see any option to send to my car at all, phone, email yes, but not car. As oyu say, I thought it was sending the destination not the actual route though...

I'm 95% sure it sends the route in my case, surely not much use otherwise if it just sends the destination?

I can't check now as the ConnectDrive system is down (just called them to confirm) and was down all day yesterday as well :( They can't give an anticipated fix date/time

I'll try sending a specific (convoluted) route when it's up and running again

There used to be a "BMW Routes" option on the ConnectedDrive web portal but it is no more. IIRC they killed it about 18 months to 2 years ago. There used to be downloadable BMW-recommended routes as well as the ability for you to create and save your own routes, both of which could be downloaded to the car - I think I still have them. I did use it, mainly for several options on my lengthy commute should their be delays, accidents, etc. But I suspect I was in a minority which is why it is no more...

You can still do it. Users had a separate login and password. Here we go.....
    https://www.bmw-routes.com/uk/en/routes/index.jsp

I have still got 22 routes in mine and I can save and transfer to vehicle or save and transfer to USB stick.

Just out of masochism, someone try my route and tell me what you get :D SO45 5HE to ST10 4DB, form my reading it seems to do it's best to ignore the fasts routes and the shortest ones :D

I can't figure out what criteria it's using at all to be honest!!
