    Looks to be approx £500 more for an M4. Must be the market/thefts/value of the car that is driving the cost of insurance. All rather scary.

    @Wynne71
    Qoute me happy - though!
    You’ve made the cardinal insurance sin and missed your +21 day bonanza!
    21days prior to renewal, prices are always cheaper, the closer to renewal date the price is increased

    My Hastings Direct has gone up by about £30 this year to just under £200. Fully comprehensive 10k miles pa and 55 with full no claims on the 520d SE. Wife also on the policy. Direct Line were the most expensive even 21 days prior to renewal - they must have a full book atm!

    Only had the renewal through this morning, had forgotten when the renewal was. However, it is still 20 days until renewal on the 08/05 so shouldn’t make that much of a difference being one day out….

    Can’t wait for renewal time and the merry dance we have to do. First year of my G80 was £550 which I thought was outstanding on a brand new £80k+ car then last year was circa £750 so what on earth will it be this year.

    Fed up with the BS excuses, bet they are blaming it on putin, energy prices and any other crap they can dream up when in fact the risk data is probably not too different year on year!!!

    A 2009 330d was over double what i paid to cover the x5 so i stopped looking at cars for now lol.

    I combined the house and car insurance with Admiral last year, got a much better deal doing than. The renewal for both has gone up just over 70% since May 2022. I can’t see how this is justified.

    6.5% increase over 4yrs doesn't seem too bad when viewed against inflation running at 10% pa. currently.

    Well that was worth a phone call. Spoken to Admiral and said I wasn’t happy with the 70% hike, didn’t mention any other prices simply said I was speaking to them before I moved elsewhere. Managed to get £229 off the car insurance. Happy with that, £425 for the year.

    In the last month all the cars insurances have come up for renewal;
    Seems no logic behind the prices;
    2018 640d £380 with Saga up around £40 from last year but way cheaper than anywhere else
    2017 118i £270 with Direct line up around £60 from last year but still a lot cheaper than elsewhere (wife's car)
    1990 Porsche 944 S2 with Heritage classic car policy guaranteed value increased to £28K 3K mileage limit £230 - down £40 from last year..
    52 years old no points or claims all three for wife and I.
    Age or value seems to have little impact on premium. We enquired about the premium change if the 118i was changed for a 2023 X1. Direct line reckoned the premium would drop to about £220.

    But you should never have to make that call as they should always give you the best price - thieves that hope you don’t make “that call”!!!

    I do check ours every couple of years. Never gone back to try and reduce but around 4 years ago 4 month after renewal I got a letter saying I had been overcharged and enclosed cheque for around £40 and apology

    Just had my renewal quote, was reasonably happy with last years renewal even though it had gone up a bit.
    Not happy with this years price hike, so phoned them up and was offered a paltry £34 off their renewal price.

    I'm 63 in Dec with full no claims and don't do massive mileage, so will be looking elsewhere.
    Just done a cursory check on compare the markets and best price was £374.

    The world, at least the UK and Insurance, is mad. My insurance renewal was up 55% #@##@## what!!, After the web search for alternatives I found one that was only 20% more yet after the not so merry-go-round call with renewal could only get them down to a 50% increase. One very weired thing was upping the milage reduced the quotes by a few ££s, can't see much logic in that, but then what has logic go to with much/anything in this country ??!

    Went to go back the the cheaper quote I'd got, and that had gone up by £90 in 2 days... #@##@## hell.

    More web shopping arround and ended up back at LV who I'd left 2 years ago, and settled on only a 30% increase ( Frank.S where do live, the Ukraine, for that +£300 diffence to mine with LV?) although with a combined exxxxcess of £550, 62 clean history, 35y ncb, although dropped 'legal assistance' option in all quotes compared to previous years.

    Seems the quotes come from a random number generator, and why aren't such increses in any of the governments RPI & CPI dodges as ther are just about as many cars on the the roads as there are houses, another playing down of bad news 'truth' ?

    Anyone know how this compares to in other countries?

    Oh and the AA's breakdown cover renwal 'only' went up by 37.5%, (144% since I started with them several years ago) time to move, RAC (offers independant and or Defence Discount (ex / vet & civillian)) / Start Rescue much cheaper, and from Trust(not)Pilot, not a huge deal of difference between them for 5&4 * vs 2&1 * ratings percentage wise over the last 2 years.

    Maybe its about time company's execs and shareholders stopped profiting so imorally from customers so much?

    Just had my renewal through for the M3, it has gone up by over 40% with Hastings direct.

    Nothing has changed, no accidents, points, full ncd and still they increase it to bonkers levels.

    Comparison sites not good either. Looks like M cars are getting more costly to insure and the highwaymen are trying their best to rinse every single penny from us :mad:

    The 2011 E92 330d is seen as being reasonably quick, and not especially cheap to repair. Me, I’m old (eighties), live in a quiet part of SW France, little theft, little traffic except July August when the tourists come and drink and drive. I’ve gained 50% no-claims, which takes thirteen years to accumulate (and there’s no protected deals). Clean licence. Reasonably competent: IAM senior observer, and BikeSafe instructor.

    But this year I still coughed up £777. It’s been in that ballpark (£700s) since 2011 when I purchased it new. The cover is fully comp. It also provides recovery from breakdown or accident to wherever I decide, and it includes hotels et cetera. This cover - fully comp and recovery - is for the whole of EU plus a few other bits of Europe, but not Russia if I recall correctly. Wasn’t thinking of going there anytime soon anyway.

    But as per usual we’re not comparing like with like.

    We live in different areas regarding car theft, accident rate, repair costs, and so on. We are of varying age, driving history, job, and anything else you can think of to throw in the mix. All of this goes towards computing your premium, plus and it’s a big plus, whatever they think they can get away with charging you.

    So think yourselves lucky; every time I read “how much I’ve just paid, how much are you paying” I’m more than a little envious.

    I think they throw dice, then double it, then add the number they first thought of.
