While I too have made my own vertical wheel stacker with an old broom handle and some blocks of wood, which works surprisingly well.

I recently bought this for the other set of wheels:

    https://amzn.eu/d/0c8eYwuk

Wouldn't what to wheel it about lots, but seem to be doing the job, and just about fits the staggered wheels 225 and 255, if you turn the top holder.

9509 miles on the clock now. Ticking over nicely.
I was hoping to have had an intermediate oil change done by now, but work and life seems have done a great job of getting in the way of plans. Will look to get this done before the cars first birthday in mid-August.

There was a software update last week, can't recall which version it is now using, however, I've noticed a few annoying glitches since the upgrade. Even with the "lane assist" turned off, as I do each journey, there is still a noticeable vibration through the steering wheel when approaching white lines, road limits etc. This 100% wasn't there before the upgrade, will have to look to see if there are any new/updated settings that I can adjust.
This maybe an issue with either the car or my phone as both have updated their software in the past few weeks, or it may be both of them. The CarPlay has dropped out on three separate occasions, once when on a call, once when using Google maps and once when listening to a podcast. Just switches off, the tile on the display shows "connecting" but it doesn't reconnect. I had to get out of the car, lock it, turn my phone off/on and then re-open the car for it to connect. Frustrating when I'm trying to use the car for work. It didn't happen today, but need to keep an eye on that.

Other than those annoyances, the car is great! Loading it up for a weekend in Cornwall later this week, looking forward to some space and time off.

Must be a real pain in the arse to stop and do that when you are in the fast lane on the motorway :rofll:

Must say I thought BMW would be a bit more on the ball, and properly test their updates.

Good to hear that you are still enjoying the M340i, despite the software glitch. Hopefully it will resolve itself on the next update.

I downloaded the latest Connected Drive software update some time ago for my F30, but as my iPhone works seamlessly via the Bluetooth, I am reluctant to upload the update. Lane assist is one option that wasn't specced for my car, thank goodness. It is one of the most annoying features as required by EU regulations. I know that it can be turned off whenever the car is started, but can it be coded out permanently using something like Bimmercode?

Glad to hear you are enjoying the car still. Interesting that you seem to have gelled more with this than the 440i you had previously - do you think its because you have got the M car thing out of your system, or maybe that the driving dynamics are more suited to a fast estate than a drivers coupe? Or something else?

I also hate lane assist with a passion. Dont really like all the touch screens either so use voice control a lot. Now up to 6500 miles and off on my regular weekend jaunt to Derbyshire on Friday. Definitely enjoying not paying £7 a gallon these days for such journeys...

That's a good question. I think the M440i was a great car, but not a "sports" car, if that makes sense. Jumping into the M2 from that one made the difference all the more stark. The G21 version, same engine/transmission as the M440i, is a more rounded car. It isn't pretending (harsh word but you get my drift) to be a sports car, it is just a brilliant all round car, and it is the all round nature that makes is shine.

Makes sense - I do think your expectations of a car (even siubconscious) can colour how you view the ownership prospect. I once had an E46 320d Touring which was a great car but it never really was a car I loved as it followed a Golf GT TDi which was more economical, had more grunt, rode better and handled (on the roads I used) just as well. Similarly I had a Volvo S60 2.4D manual - bought at 30 months old and 30k miles with the sole intention of it being a high mileage motorway muncher. It was ostensibly a crap car (not great on handling, ride, rear seat space) but for me it was perfect - great seats, economical, enough grunt, discrete and could be left anywhere (and it was!). I kept it to nearly 160k miles and had a real bond with it....

Lane assist is utterly miserable. On my previous G80 that had the proper buttons it call all be turned off and stay off forever but my lci has the lane assist on. I have managed to turn all the other junk off except lane assist.

Someone on m3cutters described the process of setting up a shortcut button to turn off lane assist in one tap so I must try and do so that, a bit like being able to press the “set” button to turn off the speed limit warning.

I also have had an update waiting to be applied for ages but every time I do one it resets so much back to default and it annoys me immensely. Having to go back in and reset the M1 and M2 buttons to my preferred settings is the biggest irritation to me. First world problems I know but why BMW cannot get the update to save all settings and reapply them after the update has completed is beyond me!!!!

I've got a shortcut "button" set on the idrive, swipe down and press once. Pre-update this used to completely turn the lane assist off, now it seems to have a residual setting in there somewhere. Will have a look next time I'm in the car.
Using the Boxster tomorrow, zero electronic "aids" in that beauty, not even parking sensors..... :ROFLMAO:

What voice command do you say?

Must admit I am getting more proficient with 8.5 and voice commands.

Press the button "Turn off lane departure warning", it will ask if you really mean it and say "yes", job done. I have relatively long legs for my size and so with the seat set where I want it, the touch screen is a stretch so I prefer anything that means not using the touchscreen!

Mine doesnt seem to go off completely, still tells me off if I wander in lane a bit but not the constant vibration of otherwise!

Also using the soft top today if I go out - that at least had parking sensors which is handy as you can see sod all at the back with the roof down....

Had a cracking few days away in Cornwall this weekend. Up at the crack of dawn on Friday, packed the car and headed down the M5, onto the A38, through Plymouth and over the Tamar bridge, finally arriving at Polperro for a cream tea. Lovely walk around, the sun was out, even managed to sit on the beach for a relax.
Then back into the car and over to Fowey where we were staying for two nights.
Stopped for a snack and a photo op on the road above Fowey:

    IMG_2275.jpeg

Once we got to the hotel, parked the car up, unloaded and walked into the town for a beer:

    IMG_2276.jpeg

Didn't touch the side! Went down a treat. A good wander around, back for a shower/change and then into town for some lovely food at the King of Prussia (as well as some fine local beer of course...!).
Saturday was a walking day, we'd planned to do the Hall Walk, the weather was on the dodgy side with a forecast for rain/showers. However, we had the right clothes (no such thing as bad weather just the wrong clothes, apparently...), so headed to the ferry at the harbour. A calm cruise over to Polruan with the local ferryman, surprised that they take contactless payment these days! Saw this old beauty on the harbour side:

    IMG_2277.jpeg

Obviously not a working machine, but someone has kept it in amazing condition.

The walk was lovely, the rain stayed away and we managed to walk all the way around the coastal path, up and over the hill and back down to Bodinnick. Caught the ferry from there back over to Fowey:

    IMG_2278.jpeg

Had a decent coffee at the kiosk the other side, then wandered back through the town. By the time we got back to the hotel the heavens opened! Perfect timing all round. Chilled for the afternoon then went out to a place called Sam's for a meal. We've been there a few times, cracking food, totally recommend it to anyone.

    IMG_2279.jpeg

Lazy breakfast this morning, walk down to Readymoney beach to watch the crazy people swimming in the sea, then back to the car for a short hop over to Charlestown for a Sunday lunch.
Stomach suitably full the journey back home was on the cards. I had expected some bad traffic, but was very pleasantly surprised to find the journey was a total doddle. Adaptive cruise on for 90% of the journey, brief stop for a coffee at Sedgemore, then the final leg.
The car was utterly brilliant, comfortable and relaxing for the four hour drive each way. Also managed over 40mpg there and back.

A well needed few days away to recharge and refresh.
