    I know - time flies.

Its funny you say that about the interior now, because one of my most vivid memories about your car then was just how impressively pristine the interior was.

I think the interior colour scheme is also striking. It’s a shame more aren’t specced like that. In Germany it’s very popular.

Might be worth seeing what Motorway offer, I did a cheeky check a few weeks ago and the offer from them was approx £1200 more than WBAC.

    Motorway offering £25513.

I see Duncan is agreeing. Just been looking at something completely different, the iX3… given me something to think about.

I’m gonna slide off topic - Apologies
I’m looking at picture with IPad… however if you find a spot in the water and affix your glare, your peripheral vision picks up moving water
Please tell me I’m not losing my marbles !

    stunning Picture!

I've not driven an X3 since owning the F25, but if the G05 is anything to by in terms of ride quality (and indeed build quality), I'd say the iX3 is certainly worth a look.

Nope - just you, Sean! :p

In fairness, I'm currently looking at it on a 27" iMac, which might not give the same effect.

Agree that it's a stunning picture though.

Imagine what it looked like when it was built.

Definitely a vehicle to consider once winter is past. Plenty big enough.

The example at Grassicks is in Sophisto Grey/Canberra Beige with Pano’ roof.

Pleased to say the Side View cameras got sorted today, all working as they should. Bird's Eye View is now working again, as well.

My SA had to go and get the car from the workshop compound, as it wasn't brought out as it usually would be. He commented he'd used the 'side view' to see around a blind spot. Must say, as the 535i came into view and looped the carpark for me to pick it up, it did look at home, even among the newer models. As he opened the door Mavericks were playing... they'd clearly carried on listening to where I'd left the media, even though I'd flipped to Radio 2 as I parked up.

Had a good drive home and confirms once again why I've kept the car so long. :)

I've taken a closer look at my spreadsheets over ownership, to see how running an older car compares with running the first 3-years of my ownership, including the remainder of the 3-year warranty. To see if it is cheaper to keep running a car to an older age. Remember I saved a huge amount on the initial depreciation. The first 6,000 miles cost about £4 per mile in depreciation, from the list price.

At 35,000; Total Cost (per mile): £1.06 Fuel: £0.184 Depreciation: £0.623 All other costs: £0.254
At 63,000; Total Cost (per mile): £0.94 Fuel: £0.185 Depreciation: £0.421 All other costs: £0.333

I've not examined the finer detail of running cost over the last 18-months, or so, as it is so distorted. So a bit meaningless with limited mileage. Total running cost per mile would be lower, if I'd continued driving similar annual mileage to the first 3-years. What a spreadsheet does tell me, looking to buy new is not the best use of finances.

With the increase in values, Motorway’s offer for mine would mean the depreciation I have suffered is £0.28 per mile which is actually a lot less than expected when I bought it. It’s a shame everything else has gone up

The F10 / F11 is a very hard package to beat if you’re striving for that balance of prudent sensible financial outlay vs a car you really enjoy and appreciate. Yes arguably there are many newer models I’d love to get my hands on, but not at present day prices. I too picked up my 2014 535d at around 6k miles for £27k in 2017; to find a 3 year old car with that mileage, power and package would be tough to impossible. I’ve decided to keep my car long term; the cost to change does not make sense. My wife still drives my 2007 e91 325i which is now just under 110k miles (had that one since new!). Even with the increased maintenance in the past few years I cannot make the maths work to justify changing it.

Making the maths work to justify changing? I don’t think I’ve ever had an actual case of the numbers making any sort of financial sense. Buying a car has pretty much always been an emotional decision rather than a practical one, maths goes out the window! If I tried to make the numbers add up I’d have never changed a car….

It’s like those people who spend £5k for a more fuel efficient car, which will save them £500 a year in fuel.

Just like the idiot who sold a perfectly good 320d that owed him nothing to buy a 440i that then owed him loads…..no spreadsheet it going to appease that idiot!

    Oh, hang on…..it’s me.

I know, I regret my ‘man maths’ logic after spending a day at the Simply BMW meet in Beaulieu. Decided I need to step up my efforts for my weekend car. Really want an Alpina or M car now.

Regarding buying and selling, I too was pleasantly surprised to see that my 520d F11 Msport 2013 is worth just over 10k, more with 'Motorway'. Given my ongoing and undiagnosed troublesome error messages, I remain tempted to get rid and let someone else find a solution.

So why haven't I done exactly that? Well, the car is almost as good as it gets. Yes a 30d would have been better, but as a 20d, it goes very well, I love the auto box and spec of the car. Its the MSport+ model, or whatever they called it, meaning its got privacy glass, 19" alloys and HK sound. Add the Pro Navigation and it does pretty much all I'd want a 'modern' car to do.

Added to my dlimea, and much like Peter, what in earth would I replace it with, when spending say another 8-10k? I don't need a big car anymore now that the kids have grown up. So a 135i or 125d maybe. Aside from the size, might I miss the refinement of the F11?

Or a 330d or 430d, both are options. I also like the X2, the new 1 series or even an i3 S, but all are just out of budget. The real issue for me is that whilst the value of mine has increased, it seems the values of those I am keen on have increased proportionally more. The good spec higher performance models, especially the 6 cylinder versions even more so. I wonder if people are waking up to the fact that a nice pokey 6 cylinder rear wheel drive car will soon become thing of the past! Im also acutely aware that a diagnosis of my F11 troubles could land me with a hefty bill, not great when the mot expires in December.

I have been mulling this dilemma over for weeks, is it me or do we all become all the more indecisive as we get older? I can't decide .

Used prices for F11's have been increasing in value for some time along with the market, trouble is retail stock has been increasing faster....would be hard to switch down from the luxury, refinement and superior build of the 5 down to 1,3 or 4 series etc.....decent G30's are all now north of £20k

Like you say probably the last chance to have a 6 cylinder, these have always demanded a premium because of the extra refinement and performance and I would expect them to hold their value much better than 4 pot machines......difficult market to be buying....

Or swapping, what do you have after a 535d without bankruptcy ?
Maybe I'll have to stick rather than twist.
