Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but my V5 arrived this morning, I've had the car since October, is this a record ? I did an online chat a week or two ago and they said that it would be looked into, and it is here now.

All details are correct, but it is a shame the previous keeper isn't shown anymore.

    only
the previous keeper details were removed from the V5 in early 2018 could have been May 2018

the V5 l had for the 5GT issued in September 2016 had the previous keeper details on it. and when l took my personal plate off the 5GT in Dec 2020 the replacement V5 didn't have previous keeper

As from this coming Monday - 22nd March 2021 - not all vehicles with converted headlights will fail the MOT.

The important words are NOT ALL.

From March 22 2021, not all motorcycles and vehicles will fail the MOT test if their halogen headlamp units have been converted to be used with high intensity discharge (HID) or light emitting diode (LED) bulbs.

Link to MOT Special Notice 1-21 is here:

So I have to reapply for my licence in June, due to sleep seizure last August, Specialist told me I should not be banned and he would confirm with DVLAS but he passed away before DVLA could write to him due to covid delays. Should I apply earlier as latest update doesn't say.

My wife sent in her non UK licence and identity card to swap to a UK one 4 weeks ago and counting. I'll update when anything happens.
Ideally they won't lose either before posting them back as getting her hands on her non UK licence was painful.

Interesting thread. My sister in law has just reapplied for her licence due to a seizure last year as she had a brain tumour (all removed now)

I believe she can drive under section 88 as the hospital and specialist have said it’s ok. She also got an insurance quote and they said the same.

I’m in the process of ordering her a new Nissan Quashqai lease. A lot of kit on to be fair for the price per month.

    Was that after a year?

My GP has said he's happy for me to drive. My specialist died of pancreatic cancer after I saw him in November. Very upsetting as he was a lovely man. He believed it was stress related and i'd had all the tests to prove it wasn't epilepsy

Section 88 says: Your last licence was not revoked or refused for medical reasons. •

This is the bit where I would think you can't

My wife refuses to part with her non-UK licence - too many reports of either 'losing it' or just plain not sending it back and then when the case is investigated they say it has been destroyed.

They don't understand that people want to retain their non-UK licence.

That is sad, especially with someone helping others out medically.

Yes it’s been a year now.

The section 88 thing confused is a little, but when reading it you can interpret you can drive?

Yes the licence was voluntarily surrendered, but she had had the OK from the specialists to reapply?

We are back in the UK permanently now so she had to chop in her PL licence. Well, not had to. As you will know you're meant to swap if you're driving in country for 6 months or more. When she lived in UK prior to going to PL we never bothered to swap it, for the reasons above. And I never bothered to rescind my UK licence in the 5 yrs in PL, nor re-register the car - but that's another story.

I'm always motivated by cost. And today her driving around on an EU not UK licence adds a good few hundred quid to the insurance so we have taken a chance and whilst expecting trouble, sent the licence in. She has a passport as well as ID card so can at least travel assuming they lose the ID card. Also its free to get replacement ID card in PL, rather than paying for the passport so another reason we went with that strategy. Sent it all recorded there and back and I like arguing with chatbots so here's hoping.

Surely it would have been revoked?
I've had the ok to reapply as well but am weary without being confirmed by DVLA. It'll be a year at the beginning of August but am concerned that they are behind due to Covid and strike action.

I did write in though and told them. They then contacted my GP and revoked my licence. Was this the same for your sister in law?

I guess it is revoked then, she has to send the licence back.

It’s proving difficult to get hold of anyone in DVLA to speak to. I’m not sure who else she can contact.

That's why I don't understand how she can drive if it has been revoked without confirmation from DVLA.

Confusing to add that Aviva said it’s ok and they’ll insure her, despite not having the licence returned yet.

Maybe she needs to persist with trying to contact DVLA again.

Apparently on a brain tumour forum, some have mentioned it was 14 months before their licence was returned due to strikes in DVLA.

I will also get her to ask in there, but I think differences of opinion from the stuff she was reading.

Yes, it is confusing and frustrating.
