As we've had some dry, sunny weather for the past week or so, I decided it was time to clean the drive! I must confess that I've not cleaned it in over two years. Some excuse about the rubbish weather, illness etc are to be heard from myself, and most unlike my usual hyper cleaning routine. Soaked the drive with a cleaning solution at 8am this morning, left it for three hours then tackled the big clean. I was told by the chap that fitted the drive not to use the high jet directly into the gaps between the bricks, this can blow out the sub layer and create a drop in some areas. So I used the block paving cleaner attachment for the Karcher, does a decent job. Very pleased with the result, the bricks have come out almost like new. I shall leave it to dry completely before I sand the drive, probably do this tomorrow PM. Shows how much grime builds up over time! Weird "clean" area where the M2 (and previous BMWs) is parked. Partway through the job: And a finished job, apart from re-sanding of course: I've managed to completely ruin a pair of old walking shoes, but gives me an excuse to buy another new pair and recycle the current walking shoes....
Did mine this week, soaked with BAC 50 (undiluted Wet n Forget) and left to dry. All green algae and moss now gone, and bricks much cleaner.
This one was past saving with a similar "wet and forget" product, the grime was almost engrained in the bricks. I use one of those on the rear patio and wood etc, works an absolute treat, superb product.
Had mine professionally done about 2 years ago as it was awful, and now the same firm come every quarter and treat it and it still looks like new. The lazy man's approach to drive maintenance!
Nice! I've got my back patio to do in the next week or so - try and wake it up from its winter slumber! Only problem I foresee is the moment the slabs are clean, the render on the walls will show the desperate need for repainting.
I have to admit that the sanding didn’t happen yesterday, after a long bike ride in the morning I decided that watching F1 Drive to Survive was more of a Sunday afternoon plan.
Always looks better with a finish of sand. Those with keen eyes will see that there is no sand under the Alfa, I was approx 1/4 of a bag short on the sand! I will finish this off once I've bought some more. Nearly, so nearly a job completed.
