Has anyone any experience of the RAC 05 Dashcam?

    http://www.racshop.co.uk/sat-navs-tech/dash-cam/product/rac05-dash-cam-super-hd.html

In my view, it has two good points as follows:

    - An excellent Dashcam.
    - Importantly for me, it can be loaded with the pocketgpsworld safety camera database that can be regularly updated if you are a subscriber to http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/

I have a 63 plate X3 xDrive 30d M Sport with Professional Sat Nav, but there is no way you can put the pocketgpsworld safety camera database on it, so I have always used a cheap garmin satnav that sits down in the cigarette lighter ashtray to alert me for the safety cameras. All a bit of a compromise to say the least and has to be setup every time I go out on longish trips. The RAC 05 Dashcam could be a compromise for a forward facing camera with speed camera alerts. I can then put my excellent Mobius facing the rear.

Take a look at the Koonlung KS1 (google search)

One of the best and most discreet on the market in full HD quality front and rear. I've used it for a year now and have to say, cracking. It also has speed cam alert, lane departure warning and a few other bits n bobs. If i get time over the weekend, i might do a wee review with installation with pics etc etc.

Yip. But the big difference being the KS1 has HD both front and rear and the cameras are approx 2cm x 3cm (tiny) Control unit can be located anywhere out of sight etc etc

I have just watched the review by Techmoan. See...

    http://www.techmoan.com/blog/2015/3/1/k1s-the-first-front-rear-hidden-1080p-dash-camera.html

He says the the camera database does not work in the UK. This is very important to me and one of the main reasons for using a combined unit.

Lack of non working speed camera database is a show stopper for me.

You have to subscribe, download file on to Mini sd card and put back in control unit. Takes minutes.
