Whilst I've done fruitless research, I've been looking for one of these for a while What's the recommendations ultimately I'm looking for front and rear cameras though discreet fitment is high on the agenda, any advise ? Ps I know there was a lengthy thread on the old site
I've got an HP dash-cam and have been very impressed with the output/results. Haven't got round to organising a rear-facing one yet, it's on an increasingly lengthening list of "to do"s Quite unobtrusive once fitted, this is a review of it http://reviewify.co.uk/hp-f800g-dash-camera-review/ I can supply pics of it in situ if you want, Sean.
I asked my Insurers [M & S] if they discounted for having a camera and they said no, but I am aware that some Companies will offer up to 10% off premiums if you have one. It's a question of, if you don't ask...you don't get.
I use Mobius, front and back. small and tidy and to avoid a massive bracket I use magnets, the beauty of which allows me to turn the front one if I need to. if something particulary nice is going past, including cars ;) I bought the magnet for my snooper, as the bracket was damaged, and decided the magnets are a better option than how I fixed cams in the 640d. also allows me to unclip them very easily if I want, which I only do if wanting a clip. quality is good, maybe better around, but very good value, and small and discreet, I really don't like big brackets or window suckers.
The möbius is the one that sticks in my head Though I guess I should be asking on pricing too! As I guess that's an important factor (albeit you can't put a price on something when you need it most Haven't an BMW offerings? My intention is to buy the first one and gift it to my brother (taxi driver) then judge the quality, the same as offering him up as tester to quantify the quality and product longevity though my main priority is getting something small and discreet with uncluttered / unseen wiring
I think @Singvogel has/had Mobius fitted and am sure he posted a "how to" when he fitted it - maybe he still has the info/sample clips available?
Not me Slim - I have a Transcend DrivePro 200 - not the most discreet of cameras, but it's giving me good results. Perhaps you were thinking of GunRunner who IIRC is a Mobius user.
Yes it was me. Unfortunately I did not keep the write up that was for an F31 320d, so all the information has been lost on the previous BMWLand site. I have since transferred it to my X3, so I will most likely do another one with pics and post under the X3 forum when the weather turns inclement and I get bored in the evenings.
I have a MiVue Mio 538 Deluxe in the van. Big with the bracket, only records 1080 which means it only gives about 3.5hrs recording on a 32GB card (largest it can take), probably enough for commuting but not for me being on the road all day. Picture is good, speed camera warnings are pointless and many are wrong, has emergency recording and a parking mode (parking mode hurts available recording time) and you can manually transfer recordings to the emergency folder so they don't get overwritten. Good picture in daylight, dusk / dawn, night street lit & non street lit. Miles better than the £9 Amazon Special I had before it though!! EDIT: Update - installed a 128GB card and it seems happy with it, so now I can record a whole day of driving.
We've had nothing but positive feedback on the ones we've fitted. It's just a shame the BMW cameras aren't more covert...
Has anyone any experience on the following LUKAS LK-9750 DUO PRO? http://www.lukashd.co.uk/LUKAS_LK_9750 Duo_Pro.php Not to be confused with LUKAS LK-7950 Wifi Duo http://www.lukashd.co.uk/LUKAS-LK-7950-wifi-duo-Pro.php
Hi K777, I use a Mobius too but with the suction cup mount...it's just so discrete and I've been really impressed with image quality. Also fitted one in the other car. I like what you've done with the magnets..any chance you can tell me where you got them and if you needed to mod the camera to make it work? Thanks in adv. JG
Mobius for me back & front were installed in the 535d then the Merc E63 & now the Golf GTD. Both have worked perfectly since purchase, front on suction windscreen mount rear on plastic stand. Just removed batteries & now running them with super capacitors fitted to prevent battery over heating with constant charging. 5 min loop so they run perminantly when driving and come on via the 12v cig socket at start up. Considering running them 24/7 by make sockets perminantly live.
Hi Basically I was looking for something for my phone and found people talking about a mobio magnet. what I bought was this kind of thing http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-3...Mount-For-Iphone-5-6-/400976848532?nav=SEARCH But I bought a pack that had three balls and I think 6 magnets. I had to glue the "mobio" disc magnet to the underneath of the mirror unit because whilst the sticky pad was good in our blistering heat. (Actually it was in french blistering heat ) it became lose. Albeit as its a decent looking magnet it's ok. And I can easily leave it there when the car goes. On the camera holder I superglued an older magnet I had - similar to this sort of thing - http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/neodymium-disc-magnets Did similar at the rear. It's great. So easy to remove the cameras. I have only 2 or 3 inches of wire in view at the camera. It's easy to hide the wires into the roof lining then down the pillars. The photo of the ball is just to show what I bought, that wire shown there is for my snooper "safety" camera device. Oddly that sticky pad has not come loose with heat from the sun and is not superglued to the dash (Hope the links work - if not I will sort them later ).
