Captured this great bit of driving today!

Fortunately, the road was wide enough for me to get over enough!

This is exactly the reason I’ve finally relented and bought a dash cam. Some of the driving I’ve seen recently (and an RTC I attended locally which was a head on caused by inattention) tipped me over the edge. At least if someone is going to kill me, then there will hopefully be no question that it wasn’t my fault!

    Exactly!

It was made worse because the mini wasn’t content with overtaking the white car, but he had to go for the learner as well, with no chance of getting past before we got there.

The thing is if that is actually a learner, something like this could make them swerve off the road or anything. Absolute stupidity and a video I would be uploading to operation snap. We’ve all been learning at some point so a little more patience with them is needed.

That’s good. Hopefully something will be done.

Another reason why I now use a dash cam.

That was one of the first things i bought when i picked the car up, i went for front and rear, and hard wired to the car (but not permanent live), stays on for about 10-15 mins after the car is switched off.

There is a post a bit further down to say the video was removed as it was reported to the Police.

Ah yes! I was in too much of a hurry and missed it.

    Thanks.

As an aside, I have been using dashcams for a long time. I used to have a Mobius (and others since) but gave it to slim last year sometime.
I did have a DDPai that failed after 11 months that I purchased from Amazon. When I asked them for a replacement, they (Amazon) said we do not sell that one anymore and immediately gave me my money back. I then had a Qvia AR790 front and back in the X3 and then fitted it to the Audi Q5. I thought it was fair value and fitted a front one to my wife's little Polo. That one became a horror story that I will not dwell on.

I have a family friend (auto-electrician) who comes from Swindon and he fitted me a Thinkware 4k U1000 Front + rear + radar module at mates rates to my X1 as soon as I purchased it. He also fitted one to another family friend's Range Rover Sport.

I took the bmw first Gen advanced car eye out of mine and now have a Viofo A139 3 channel.
My wife has a Garmin 65W which has lots of very irritating extra ‘features’ so I’m not a fan of that one lol.

After getting a response from the police regarding statements and retention of the SD card - which means I would have to buy another one - I have decided not to supply the footage. I guess they make it difficult to avoid being swamped with footage.

Mine seems very fond of giving me false collision warnings but apart from that seems ok, camera alert is handy on unfamiliar roads though

Yikes, that looks very close to a nasty accident, i think the learner needed to make some room for the Mini too......

Yes, there was lots of swearing in my car!

It’s a long straight road so the mini saw me coming with plenty of time to get back in.

Well this image just shows the stupidity of the mini driver.........could easily have pulled in, and then if clear come out again once you had passed..... thankfully i don't see this very much anymore as i only have a short commute to work and back now, when i used to be on the A3 everyday, there were some very bad drivers around.

Was that reporting it to your local police force?
I was looking on operation snaps website the other day and that said to submit the unedited video or if the offence was clear in a picture then even that could suffice. Requirement for entire sd card is ridiculous.

My constabulary want a statement and for me to keep the raw data recording I.e. the SD card. As the dash cam just records over old footage, I would effectively have to buy another card.

Without a statement, they say they won’t look at the video.

I know other forces do operate differently.

For CCTV footage, Thames Valley Police have a system where they send an email to people that provides an upload link. In the past few weeks, I sent 4 separate videos showing someone stealing items from the front porch from a house across the road.

Not sure about Dashcams. I would have thought the same.
