If there’s not a deal to be made at £15.5k then I can only come to the conclusion that the used market is broken beyond anything I’ve ever experienced.
Deal done - ended up being much more advantageous to go down the finance route so got a £250 discount plus £500 deposit contribution - so down at £15,250. Collecting next weekend!
Here’s a video if anyone’s interested: https://video.citnow.com/vtp5qRKPpQq Thanks. I’ve had a couple of bites with some interest but nothing concrete as yet. I’m going to spend some time detailing the interior and taking a few more shots for the ad plus reworking a bit as I don’t think it’s as concise as it could be. Plus maybe try eBay as well. I’m not in a hurry to sell enough to drop the price massively but I’d take an offer given I’ll soon have three vehicles and a driveway only for two!
Had to laugh when the salesmen on the video states that the pads having 10k left are fine Last time Mrs Eds X1 was at the dealership they tried a very hard sell as the "pads are very badly worn and really need replacing now" - when the I drive was saying 10000 miles left. 8 months later pads still not changed and still 9000 ,miles left

So excitement building this end. Can’t pick up the car this weekend as it’s my Son’s 4th Birthday which I embarrassingly forgot about in the excitement of the deal! So collection is scheduled for Monday. I’ll get a very early train down to Ashford, do the couple of Telco’s I have in the morning from the dealership then head the 75miles up the M20/M25/M11 home. In the meantime I think I’ve sorted out storage for the Campervan so we don’t clog up our Close too much with Spuff fleet. It’s not ideal - down at the storage yard I had my old Concorde motorhome (30mins each way) but better than the alternative. Having secured the spot (which is 9m long) it’ll be a good carry-over for the next van we get. Spaces that large are hard to come by. So far almost 50 watchers on the van. Think it’s the wrong time of year but it’s all cleaned inside & out and ready for its new home. I’ll start a separate thread on ownership diary for the 228i once I have it home on Monday!
Hope the handover and return journey goes well. Now that the budget is over people might not sit on their hands anymore and spend on items like the camper....fingers crossed
Kids and their birthdays…..so annoying….. New car day is always a joy, with a little apprehension and uncertainty thrown in for good measure. Looking forward to the new thread, a BMW thread! Hope this is a cracker for you.
Best wishes for a smooth and enjoyable handover and look forward to hearing about your initial impressions.Looks like a great car.
What a whirlwind….picked the car up yesterday morning then straight back home to do a days work, then off to LHR in it this morning. First impressions are that it’s fabulous! Reminds me a lot of the E46 330Ci coupe I had back in 2007, just a tad more darty and missing the thrum of the six cylinder. But the engine is just as response and feels much quicker. Fuel economy is about 17mpg better too! After about 190miles I’m averaging 40.3mpg. I’ll do a proper write up when I’m back from Munich later this week. In the meantime, regretfully the only pics I have are the ones I took at LHR Short Stay this morning…
I must say, its diminutive size is actually quite refreshing. Obviously the change from Discovery is very noticeable but it feels much more compact than 90% of what’s on the road.
Good news on initial impressions. If you able to get out for a beer in Munich I can wholeheartedly recommend the Augusteiner Braustuben amongst many others! It's superb and less touristy than others in the centre.
Snap!! I’m in Munich too staying in the city centre until Wed. Car looks fab!! Interesting what you say about how it compares to the 330ci. I had one too, was my favourite car apart from my M5.
I've had a couple of 2 Series Coupe loaners (like yours) and they were like time travel - in a good way. Proper old school BMW for driving dynamics and ergonomics. They don't make them like that any more. Congratulations.
