    Very disappointing

A few words to the wise if you are rejecting the car (having been through this process albeit some time ago)

    1) Your contract is with the supplying dealer and not Porsche GB. It is the supplying dealer who has supplied a car that is "not fit for purpose / of reasonable quality. The supplying dealer buys it back not Porsche GB

    2) Do not use the car with these faults, it could be argued that legally you are "accepting" the car has issues and not formally rejecting the car. You may also be invalidating the Porsche warranty

    3) Park it up and advise the supplying dealer where it is and what the collection arrangement are or with the supplying dealers written agreement given the underlying faults drive it back to them and formally hand it and the keys over advising them it has been rejected

4)the dealers may try to "do you a good deal" on something else they have in stock rather than having to deal with a car that has been formally rejected under the Consumer Rights legislation

In my case it was easy, when it broke down the dealership came to my house and dropped of one of their demo cars for me to use. After two weeks they had been unable to rectify the fault, so i wrote a very firm but fair email to the DP formally rejecting the car.

I had a prompt reply and acceptance of my position with an offer to keep the demo car for a few days until everything was sorted out amicably

I'm sorry to hear that @Spuffington, but no surprise judging from your recent experience. :(

At least you have made the right decision to reject the car, which the dealer has acknowledged. The fact that they have returned the Cayenne to you with the fault unresolved, doesn't say much for Porsche customer service. What do they expect you to do with it? I would definitely take @edthefed advice and not use the car at all. I sincerely hope that you get a decent settlement and that it all goes smoothly.

Thinking positively, this may have been the best result. Far better than the fault apparently being fixed, only for it to reoccur in several months time.

Sorry to hear about the car, I would suggest can they not source you another one. Maybe your put off from the brand for now…

Values, yes used prices have gone up but so have trade values, so they need to be realistic and hopefully the depreciation and value lost is commensurate to the external used car landscape. I’d anticipate £300-£400 a month is doing ok.

I wouldn’t rule out JLR, still a fab car (D5 or RRS/RR) just do more homework on potential purchases and obtain everything you can off the dealership. Including number of prev owners, company/private, ex JLR car etc and do they have access to a warranty portal to see if there have been many previous claims…

    Good luck In the search.

    Oh dear
    Feel for you Spuff….
You’ve blown my Porsche Cayman dreams to sh1t….
What edthefed said is really great advice..
As for JLR….: I wouldn’t go there … your last disco experience summed up the whole JLR thing for me…
    Audi RS6.. maybe…?
    Alpina 5’s touring…?
    E63 estate…?
    All truly great cars…

    There’s some good suggestions there, so long as an estate is big enough;

RS6 - very capable, but a little soulless.

Alpina 5 touring - good but expensive

E63S - great sound, could be the one, if my C63S is anything to go by. One of the best sounding hand built V8’s - but I am biased of course.

Not the outcome I was hoping to read...

Such a shame when a vehicle you enjoy, doesn't deliver near to 100%.:(

    Thanks @Peter.

    It’s very sad indeed.

Thanks. I’m waiting with baited breath. I spoke today to both a dealer and a former employee of a dealer and they corroborated the story I got told by Swindon about getting Group support for the buy back. And both confirmed I should be offered (at the very least) my deposit back that I paid. In this instance that’s £5k.

I should hear by around lunchtime tomorrow if Swindon’s 48hrs was reliable guidance.

I have a few irons in the fire for possible replacements. Have had a couple of calls with dealerships today about various things - Porsche & non-Porsche and had a very lovely testdrive in a non-Porsche SUV today which I think has confirmed where my next move will be. Subject to numbers - both from Swindon and that dealer I was at today.

Interestingly, if the owners of Porsche Swindon are able to treat any recompense as fungible within the group then there’s a very nice car they have in stock which I’d be pleased to take in exchange. But let’s see what happens.

@edthefed - thanks for the advice. I made it very clear this morning to Swindon that the car wouldn’t be turning a wheel (I sent them the mileage) and was only safe for being recovered and not driven.

Do they do an extended seat option on the Macan?
Either a Macan or a new Defender. V8 one.

Dick Lovett deal in several brands; Porsche, JLR, Ferrari, BMW and Aston Martin so they must be able to cut a decent deal across most of those if it means keeping the customer in the group.

@Spuffington Really sorry to hear this, so disheartening.

Very interested in this. My car is not as bad as this but Porsche UK are talking of some sort of compensation and I’ve had it 25 months now, I would be up for an upgrade to a newer one if they offer me a deal.

Nah, Audi aren't part of Dick Lovett unless it's a trade-in of course. My money's on BMW or JLR.

Excellent word that. I had to google and add to the dictionary.
Quite the opposite of fun in this case.

I hope you get your money back without too much drama. As second hand cars are worth more than toilet roll and fresh fruit and veg at the moment I don't think you'll have any issues.

Mine is creeping up in value as well and keep toying with the idea of selling up to get another, er, RRS! Daft. I really want a FFRR but Mrs CO is not playing, may have to engage in some psychological warfare as she wants a puppy...
