I took the plunge and purchased both apps, plus an OBD Bluetooth module and have to say I am mightily impressed. Expensive outlay initially but not subscription based like Carly. With three BMWs in our household I'm sure it will prove useful. This was after I made a basic error whilst trying to figure out why my 1 series passenger seat wouldn't slide. So after a lot of fumbling around under the seat, decided to unplug the seat wiring harness and to tilt the seat back for access (once the car detects an error with the restraint system, it won't clear on its own without either the dealer clearing the error, or using a software program and dongle such as Bimmerlink. Put it all back together afterwards and landed up with the passenger restraint system warning which wouldn't go away. So took the plunge after a bit of online research on how best to clear the error. The interface is great, really easy and just took me 5 mins to clear all the errors. I then played around with Bimmercode, removing the Auto Start from activating on startup (my pet hate). Did the same on my M5, plus activated some other nice (perhaps slightly gimmicky) features. Nice to clear out all the other spurious error codes in both cars. Definitely recommended. I have never used Carly to compare, was just put off by the subscription model.
Good review of this coding app/tool. Were you worried about bricking anything using it? That would set me off twitching I reckon. What is the auto start up you switched off? Not sure what you mean by this. The stop/start?
Yes stop start. Sorry, bad wording. Both cars defaulted to off now. There is an ‘expert mode’ that I dare not touch for the reasons you indicated. I use the idiots mode, which is fairly safe.
I bought it to turn stop/start off and that alone was worth the money i paid. Did some other bits as well but can't remember. As to bricking something stay away from expert mode and you can't go wrong as it saves the original setting i think (not used it for some time).
+1 for BimmerLink and BimmerCode, I have both also and used as others did to tweak some annoyances out. Main reason was to disable the hot/cold bulb checks on headlights having converted to an LED H7 bulb. It annoyed the hell out of me that I could see strobing when up behind a white veh. Anyway it sorted that out and all is good. I also have Carly, but won’t renew the subscription due to the above taking over. I’d used this to do the start/stop delete (aka remember last switch setting which having switched off remembers that next start up). Both easy and expert mode on BL/BC create backups of everything before committing to changes and although the expert mode looks scary it does let you see pretty much everything (although as ever it’s in German). I also reckon as they see more they clear more of any spurious errors, as BL/BC found and cleared stuff Carly didn’t even know existed. Although one of the recommended dongles is around £60 or so it’s one time expense, nothing else to pay. That’s a win in my book and when coupled to the other pros over Carly is the reason Carly will demote to non subscription basic functionality only.

I've had them about four years after seeing someone on here recommend it. Primarily bought to permanently disable the start stop as I always forgot to press the button, Also tinkered with a few bits but can't remember now. One year I deleted the brake fluid change message as for low mileage use, the 3,2,2 years for that means that with regular servicing being 2,2,2 years don't coincide with each other and you have to go every year. Now of course they conincide. Funny how the original brake fluid must be 50% better than the replacement they use...... wonder if that's because of PCPs or service plans
I've got BMW E-Sys and Rheingold that I've used to code several functions eg. Stop / Start etc. a few years ago. But It's a bit of a faff, using an old Windows laptop, and coding requires care when changing settings to avoid a disaster. Bimmercode by comparison seems straightforward and simply setup for ease of use. I don't really need to do any coding, I'm happy with the car setup as it is, but I'm more interested in Bimmerlink. My 330d is now 11 years old and running better than it's ever done, but I've wondered about the DPF regen. I've never noticed any symptoms when the regens occur, other than seeing lower mpg values when it's happening. So it would be handy to have an App where I could monitor a regen. Has anyone used Bimmerlink for this? Anyway, I'll probably end up purchasing both Apps.
Done a forced regen but the screen never changed. I then had to refresh the screen to see and it had done the regen. Maybe i did something wrong as i do remember seeing numbers changing when i did a forced regen on a car about 3 years ago but my memory is not ??? what was i saying lol.
So I purchased both the Apps and successfully coded a couple of items with Bimmercode. So much easier than the old method of E-sys and laptop. Also used Bimmerlink to check the diagnostics and shows zero faults, plus the DPF is looking good. Now the F30 is 11 years old, this purchase should pay for itself in the future, compared to dealer charges.
