Well, the arrival of WANKU came and went
Relatively unemotional as selfishly it wasn't for me!
Whilst it's a car I'd love to hate, due to size and relatively small engine, it's actually,a joy to drive and surprisingly torquey, cornering on rails with a surprisingly high level of comfort and refinement.
Currently sitting on 179miles I think I've driven 3 of those as the wife finds any excuse to venture out, aimlessly forgetting things as a cunning ploy for the next journey.
In my short drive the road feedback is positive with a sublime driving experience allbeit torque steer is surprisingly evident caning the small engine, most likely due to the big wheels that were supplied, allbeit we had ordered the twin five spokes .... Another story,
Inside the cabin is a really nice place to be, pop up sat nav screen is appalling, probably due to me being used to the huge screen in the GT.
As obligatory pictures are required, I snapped this whilst pulling the bin in as reality, no one cares about an Audi, though it does look very small next to its stable mate

That's was purely for size perception, honestly!

They're not bad looking cars, but still Audis, so I hate them!

But I kinda know how much fun it is playing with something with a small engine. It can be surprisingly good fun, even if equally frustrating at times too.

Glad the Missus is enjoying it. As the old saying goes "Happy Wife, Happy Life"

Haha! I realised as I was typing that.......very astute, Sir! :)

Also, that bloomin' original shape TT keeps popping into my head. There's a few at the station and they sound good and tick a lot of the boxes, apart from getting on a bit now and probably need a bit of expenditure.

Have you looked at them? I think they're about the best looking model that Audi make, in S-Line or Black guise, as @kleynie has mentioned.

Do they do decent petrol powerplants in them and fall into your budget?

My budget is on hold until I determine what I want, need, desire, so much choice and a rather large list of decisions and imaginative thoughts................

Truth be told I don't know what I want and several curve balls are coming into play, jags F pace, Vovlo xc90, to more sensible choices by means of F31 tourer, yes a broad spectrum of desires!
All the whilst, I have a near perfect companion that remains loyal and trustworthy and feeling quilty for abusing it's merit!

(An nice a7, but not for me, black interior, yuck! (n)(n))

I'm not averse the idea of a shiny Q7 myself.

Not sure how they are in practice, but I do like the way they look.

First of the problems with Wankhu after 8 months of ownership! No heating
The wife works two nights a week, this morning her late arrival has me pacing, what with the cold weather and icy roads.
She gets in the house and rants about the car and not able to demist / defrost the windows, with a stern request to book the car into the garage "I hate it!"
So off she goes and gets ready for bed and I finish my coffee, thinking I'd better find the fuse box....
    IMG_0681.JPG
To the car I go and note the temperature is set and fan is running erm...

Ponder a thought and grab the wife before she goes to bed, back out to the car we switch the vents on, alas we have heat to the windscreen, next button gives heat to the vent and last button gives heat to footwell....and they all light up to suggest they're on!
Her response was comical .... I never told her how it works......bless her she's blonde!
I'm left thinking what else doesn't she know and how well do we inform our other halfs, poor girl has been driving around for eight months freezing.........

When she woke I mentioned this, I've not needed heating until now, though the AC isn't cold either.............
Yes dear the vents have been shut since you got the car.......

    Otherwise,
    3089miles
There's nothing to report, I get to wash it, which is relaitively easy due to its size.
Brakes are very high in dust, which has ruined many woolies, brake dust is more like a soft gunk!
Spare wheel has been put to use when she got a puncture.....
Eh! That's all I can say Still don't drive it!

Well, car shopping (1 of 2) is almost over for WANKU’s replacement
    Been through many a showroom

Renault Megane / Clio - nope! (Don’t like the dealer as vowed never to furnish a sale)
Vw Polo R Line - Nope, looks like a used taxi inside (wife’s words)
Mercedes A Class Sport - Nope, Mercedes have gone all automatic and Salesman was a walloper
Peugeot - Nope, though I was only intent on looking at their Used Macan and persuading wife into one car - failed, irrespective no pan roof!
Ford Fiesta / Focus, wife has more class (Apparently)
So back to Audi, A1, too much head banging getting in / out
    Audi A3, strong contender
Back to Vw, Tiguan R line, for single car ownership - nice but No....
BMW 1 series, too big (eh! There was a debate on how the white one looked big and black a lot smaller)
A N other trip to Porsche to make sure the Macan really is too big for single car ownership and she insists on “if I damage it, it’s not my fault” Grr! I thought it was perfect?

Another trip to Vw and I think we’ve settled on a Golf........
Still settling on spec... whilst a Gti would be nice, the practicality may not warrant, 1.5tsfi SE Nav is looking likely in White or Urano Grey.....

Nearing three years of ownership, onto the second service for Wankhu and it’s been remarkably trouble free motoring, with little to no complaints or costs, other than a horrid vibration behind the dash, which I believe is a typical trait, loose securing clip.
Overall the Audi A3, has been a joy to own, a real tribute to the new modern low capacity engine where the manufacturer squeezing every ounce of power from the cubic capacity, a relative blast to drive hard and seldom lacking power if driven, however potter around sympathically and it can be lacking and left struggling for torque in the higher gears.
Ride and comfort has been composed, inside and outside has faired very well considering it’s been used as “Mums taxi”, very little by way of interior marking a couple of months and it’ll bless the auction house forecourt though realistically I think it’ll end up as a retail car!

Car shopping 2 is proving fruitless....
Too specific spec required, however a nice X5 is going on the market after Mot ?
A single car has came close, though lacking......
