Registered this year and less than 10000 miles and whilst the car looked well prepped on the surface a few alarm bells started to ring<br />

Three matching star marked (BMW approved tyres) and one non star marked tyre (same make as the others but completely different tread pattern)<br />

Apparently as part of the evaluation on certain models WBAC now do a &quot;Turbo Test&quot; on certain makes /models owing to underlying issues...the list includes BMWs <br />

Basically they made a thing about listening to the Turbo with the engine being revved - made some recordings / took noise readings and sent it off &quot;to HQ&quot; and they decided it had failed and the turbo was very noisey and there offer was reduced,<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Came home on Sunday after a weekend away, during which we left Mrs Eds X1 on the driveway at home.<br />
Monday morning it would not start - flat battery. I fully charged it on my CTEK a month ago so something amiss. Until the weekend it had been in daily use<br />

Put it on the CTEK yesterday for 6 hours and was able to start it and drive it for 90 mins.<br />
<br />
However the car is 6.5 years old and on the original battery so its probably on its way out.<br />

The vehicle health check identified £608.00 of urgent work that needed to be done (£898.17 total cost of work). The NSF wheel rim had cracked (£608.00) and both rear shock mount bellows were split and needed to be replaced (£290.17). I booked the car in to have the additional work done.<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Recently Vertu group have taken over a number of BMW dealers from Inchcape in the N Yorks and North East region, including one of my local dealerships.<br />

Its the first time Vertu have  represented BMW.<br />

When the takeover was announced it was stated that the dealerships had lost £6 million recently, so i can forsee a determined attempt to remedy that, and of course its the customer who pays.<br />

Having eventually decided on a 2 series AT, we found some examples of our preferred model have really unusual equipment choices, e.g. high trim levels lacking cruise control. Therefore really careful perusing of photos on Autotrader is needed to make sure of what the car has, as most sellers don&#039;t seem to know what the spec is or list...<br />

It&#039;s family run (&gt;3 generations I think) and has a small team of experienced technicians all of whom are enthusiasts. <br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Decided to take the plunge and get a LSD fitted to my car since I was having uprated turbo&#039;s fitted and have FBO.  Looked around at options and Birds UK came up with cheapest option and easiest option.  So Birds took my diff and fitted a Quaife LSD which requires the original diff on the crown wheel to be machined off and then the Quaife reattached to the crown wheel. This was done and I got this back after around a week and the only thing Birds had noted was that the side bearings showed...<br />

Faulty unit had both updated firmware &amp; 2020-1 maps installed!! 1) My G30 was recalled for the EGR. Booked in for check EGR changed same day. G31 loan car provided<br />

2) Wifes X1 sufferd corrosion on one wheel. Called in when passing, quick look, confirm corrosion . New wheel ordered and replaced whilst I waited<br />

3) Noticed that the stitching on the knee support on the front seat on the G30 was coming apart. Called in, visual inspection by dealer 99% sure it would be...<br />
