    Hi,

looking for some help, the X1 has business gps standard radio. Since April I have an infrequent fault with the radio /gps. Take last Friday left Manchester bound for London [rugby] all working grand but on the M6 toll road realised we had had no traffic info on radio for a long while, checked gps map and all the traffic signs had gone. The radio started having a lot of interference, until on start of M42 had to turn sound off. Stopped at service on M40 for coffee , came back out radio quickly gave 2 traffic info bulletin's radio now OK again gps signs OK ,but within a few miles signs went away, never had more traffic info arrived at hotel near Heathrow at 19.50hrs. Radio still working OK.
Came back up this morning, Just interference on radio, no traffic signs on gps, stayed like that all way to Manchester no traffic info at all. Coffees in Manchester,45minute break, back in car, all functions working correct, stayed like that to North Wales
Been doing this sort of think infrequently since April dealer being absolutely no use at all. Just spoke to salesman again , who said it will be fixed but he has control over service dept. They have uprated software ,[ at one point said it was being caused by the V wire connected to iPhone being non BMW , offered to copy them the invoice for it from their stores counter.]
    What can I do next.

Have you got a Dash Cam fitted? Some cause problems it seems.

    no dash cam, yet

but I do have a successful resolution, after various discussions during the day with the dealer and BMW they have now agreed to replace the parts that are causing the trouble. It appears the parts have been known all along but dealer wanted/needed to witness the fault. As it was infrequent that was going to be difficult, but I had provided lots of photos and a video of the trouble occurring.

Subject to parts availability ,next week.

Good result. Do you have an extended warranty or is it under new or AUC warranty?

Got the car back on Friday 23rd October after having a new "head" fitted, since then matters have got even worse.
The gps gives me locations I am not in, then screen goes bright red/orange then just goes off, sometimes comes back later
Garage say they have agreed with BMW to now replace the Communication Module and the Screen, but they can not actually carry out this as one of the parts is not available at present.
So at present I have a 16 month old car with
    NO Sat Nav
    NO radio
    NO reversing sensors

Any ideas as to were I can from here, dealer now talking about replacing the old head back into the car.

Fortunately I do have others cars to use , as dealer not offering any loan car.

Seems to me they don't actually know what is wrong and they are just changing random parts. Why are you not getting a courtesy car, surely they should be doing their utmost to keep you happy?
It's a bit of a sorry state of affairs that so called BMW technicians cannot fix a simple thing like this and they obviously didn't check it before giving the car back to you.
A good company that does retro fits of BMW sat nav would fix this in minutes I reckon, or a good auto electrician who is good with a soldering iron, rather than just changing random parts.

so---car back in dealers. They just collected it.
forgot in list I am also not permitted to use Bluetooth in car in case that is effecting any other systems.
Still no loan car from dealers. When I queried that a while ago I was told by service 3 weeks required notice for courtesy car.

Seems they did not know what's wrong, but the Master Tech is trying to sort it out.

It just the dealers whole attitude that's getting me.
