I have been using the autoglym shampoo conditioner for a while now on the paintwork and i did have a 1lt bottle of the orange coloured BMW shampoo which i have used occasionally both are nearly gone now and i will need to top up supplies

i also had a gallon of cheaper simoniz shampoo that i used in the wheel bucket this has also gone now as well

so what you got in your detailing bag

you suggest Maxi suds, and the name suggests that it creates lots of suds, for some reason shampoo manufacturers moved away from lots of suds to a low suds formula and all the shampoos that i have used for the last couple of years seem very low or no suds wash

as i said i have been using the autoglym shampoo conditioner and two capfulls in a bucket makes for a very low suds wash, so what is best suds or no suds ?

    What are suds?

You will have guessed I'm no expert, but could your choice of product also depend on the kind of detailing applied?

rich white soapy bubbles are suds

carpro who make the sealant that was applied to my car recommend you use carpro reset car shampoo which is designed for use on their nanotech sealants but i am not convinced it will be any better than wha i use now

I've also been using the Autoglym Shampoo & Conditioner for some time and see no reason to change as I'm very happy with the results.

I did have some Simoniz stuff from years back and only used it for the wheels.

Your orange coloured BMW Shampoo is most likely a re-packaged SONAX product which is quite good at getting dead flies off.

My car was polished with AG SRP followed by AG EGP then treated with BMW Nano Wax and the frontal area with Topaz several months ago and is still beading water well - the AG S&C makes short work of any insect debris.

Recently I have started using ValetPRO Snow Foam before washing with the AG S&C - it certainly makes the job easier.

I have also discovered AG Rapid AquaWax which seems to be a great product to finish off with instead of drying the car normally.

I also use AG Rapid detailer, but when the current bottle is empty I think I'll replace it with ValetPRO Citrus Bling which a good friend swears by.

    Hope that helps.

I have been reading up a bit on how to wash the carpro Cquartz coatings and they seem to say add nothing to it just clean it

the blurb for carpro reset says

    What it does not contain
    NO COLOR
    NO GLOSS ENHANCERS
    NO POLYMERS
    NO WAX INSIDE
    NO TEFLON
    NO SILICONES
    NO STICKY SURFACTANTS
    NO HARSH CHEMICALS
    NO SALINES
    and almost no smell flavors

what it does contain?.. ONLY great surface cleaning properties with a high dilution ratio.

so they seem to be saying less is more as far as the Cquartz goes, it is expensive stuff but i wonder if i should give it a try

Am another who uses Autoglym Shampoo & Conditioner on a regular basis . I do use a Wash & Wax Shampoo in winter for a quick wash though . Basically you can use almost any type of shampoo , cheap or expensive and get very good results provided your paintwork is properly prepared.

Used to use Autoglym but recent changed to Autosmart
I detached myself from wash & wax type shampoos as they leave white residues
Converted to Autosmart range tbh for ease of use in all products with good results allbeit it's very much bulk purchasing But realistic pricing!

I'll have to ask Mrs Merc what she uses.
It's she who usually washes the car (and sometimes gets a little carried away...). image.jpeg

I suspect that asking ten people will give ten different answers!

Everytime I try something new, I ended up thinking it's brilliant, only to then try something else and find that that's brilliant! I suspect they're all much of a muchness and very similar results.

I personally have found these to be very good.....

    - AG Shampoo Conditioner
    - Megs Gold Class
    - Megs NXT
    - Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss
    - Chemical Guys Deep Clean & Gloss

The two CG products I vary between now since I buy them in bulk, whereas the others are only available in smaller measures.

I also use ValetPro Neutral PH snowfoam before every wash.

That is spot on, it looks like the only common ground on this is a few still use or have used the autoglym shampoo conditioner, me included

I am swaying towards the carpro reset, as they say less is best on the carpro CQuartz, it is a bit expensive but then so was getting the coating applied so best to keep using what the manufacturer recommends
