Whoops, forgot that bit. This is Waze while I’m driving down to Bodiam. Best bit is you don’t lose the stock iDrive system too, just long press the menu button to flip between the two systems
That looks grand. Similar approach to the Dension DAB unit I added to my E92, piggy backed onto the car system.
So today I changed my pollen filters but the ones I removed had the airflow arrows facing each other. See photo. The way I understand it is they should face away from each other with the rear one facing the engine bay. Can anybody clarify please? Thanks Daren
Today I did nothing to my F10. But I took a neighbour for a hospital appointment in his 25 year old E38 740i. He insisted I drove his car.......did he think I was going to say no?
Textar pads or the ATE Ceramics? I've got Brembo high carbon discs already but crappy pads with no bite.
Note From newTIS.... Installation note: For version without tab on the microfilter (1): Note direction of installation in marked area of microfilter (1). Arrow must always point opposite of direction of travel for installation. For version with tab on the microfilter (1): Tab must always point in the direction of travel for installation. Peter
Hmm, well several years ago I replaced the disks and Pads, all ATE and with the ceramic pads, the 'coated' disks corroded quickly, the pads 'crumbled' in the centers, felt very wooden and did not inspire confidence, it was not a great experience and can not recomend either based on my experience. This year I replaced with Brembo disac all round and EBC Redstuff pads, and very happy, no black dust, just some light brown, way cleaner and for much longer. The Pads do have a running in process unlike normal pads but after following this they are much more progressive, much easier to modulate than the std pads, and in theory they should make brakes last longer as ceramic pads last longer and are easier on the rotors, aledgedly... ask me in 40k miles..... To date ~ 4k miles on them, these on my preferred list.
So, I've installed mine without tabs, with the airflow indicator arrows pointing in towards the passenger space, opposite to the direction of travel. This afternoon, I stopped behind a bus and when he pulled away in a huge black cloud I couldn't smell a thing, no diesel fumes or soot. Hopefully they're in right. Thanks
Nah, got them from Larkspeed when there wasa 20% off, the set only cost ~£170, have to not be in urgent need and wait for the deals Currently the set for 535, which has the expenssive front pads, is £214 from them. If you have the smaller pads they'd be even cheaper, and still cheper than the BMW ones. Of Ebcbrakes direct there £225 F&R, or if you have the smaller pads could be down to ~£180, prices will slightly lower from Larkspeed off ebay, particulalry if you can wait for one of the 10 / 15 / 20% offers that come up..
I really enjoyed driving it. The exhaust system has been modified and now has 4 tailpipes, not sure of the mod details but the sound from the exhaust is totally different to a standard 740i, very 'growly' and as the a/c is broken we had to have the windows open a bit, so the noise was very noticeable, especially when accelerating. I couldn't stop smiling and I think it cheered him up a bit having his car appreciated! Also the suspension has been lowered a bit which I thought was a bit odd. However, I think it's great that a fella in his 80s is still enjoying car ownership and doing a bit of 'modding'!
Woooo hooooo! Had my new rear springs fitted. Fantastic ride is back. All firmed up in the rear. Best bonus too... I had a wobble between 70 and 80 mph. Its all fixed, wobble disappeared Amazing!
This evening after gym I had to try out my new trolley Jack from SGS so I replaced my front pads with nice new Brembos to match the existing discs. Stops with proper bite now. I removed ‘Borg & Beck’ pads which were poor with no bite or feel. Then I scrubbed her and dried, waxed the tyres. Jack was great too.
