They’re more composed, surprisingly as they both have Runflats, I’m guessing the small wheel size plays it’s part, but then again Mercedes have always been soft

I’m looking at the Premium Plus with Night Package, ultimately I’m looking at New however I’m considering Manufacturer Approved Used, either way the packs makes them well specced and ticks off my desires other than a towbar.

The wife suggests new, I’m suggesting Approved used as my usage and mileage won’t change much...
Though I’m also thinking on job change that’ll mix things up!

Whilst waiting in dealership today I played in c63 Estate, Saloon and convertible oh me!

Sean, come on, you know you want a 6 cylinder, or you will be changing in 6 months time. Stop kidding yourself.

Lazy salesmen that haven't a clue and can't be bothered learning details of their products.
I've lost track of the times that I've asked a technical question, only to be met with a blank expression and an embarrassed reply.

I thought of the A-class myself (new shape) but what puts me off is the selector for the gears is where the wind screen wipers are and i just know i'll go for that stick when required without thinking its in a different place, could cause a problem if i'm doing speed etc...

There’s an end game, in circa 6 years, so there is some degree of logic In my choice!

    I’d ask you sit in a c63s,
I’ll honestly suggest you shall feel a feminine wetness (soaking) between your legs that’ll want to get you out the perfectly moulded seats quickly because your enjoying yourself too much, by simply sitting their.
If your having a really good rep-or I’d take your time and press euphoria button, I believe it’s labelled Start stop you will release the inner child from deep within then grin like a (Anything I want to write here is sick! Stop there Sean)..............
What a rumbling, deep throaty burble of righteousness!

I know I’m a fine one to talk, but I’m a little confused, Sean.

You’ve spent a while looking for a powerful 8-cylinder SUV (let’s ignore the Porsche bit for a moment) and within 24hrs of a dissappointing experience, you’re looking a 3 & 4-cylinder diesel coupes. There’s not much bigger 180deg turns and although I get the buying new vs old thing, I can’t help thinking that you’re buying for the sake of buying and you’ll very quickly find yourself unsatisfied with what you end up with.

I don’t mean to be rude and apologies for me being so direct, but I kind of see a little bit of the former me in this thread and don’t want you to regret what you end up in.

Now, back to the Porsche topic - I know from all the years you’ve been on here, Porsche is a goal and you’ve mentioned that just above in terms of waiting to do it properly. I get that although I also know that unless you’re a millionaire, it’s always possible to go into a Porsche showroom and feel poor, whatever your budget is! :ROFLMAO: But my experience is that I’ve finally done something I should’ve done years ago - bought what I actually wanted instead of playing around the outskirts thinking that a newer, more affordable car would do or an older, more powerful, bigger car would do. My Macan is neither the age of car I want, the colour of car I want, not the perfect spec (missing dimming exterior mirrors still a bugbear), a press car which has probably been ragged and more expensive than is easy to justify............BUT it is a petrol Porsche, which is what I’ve always wanted. And the more I drive it, the more none of the rest of it matters and it is the single best motoring decision I’ve ever made. I now know why no other car was kept longer than 12 months - it was because none of them were really what I actually wanted.

Every car is a compromise, but the trick is getting the compromise as close to what you REALLY want as possible. I, personally, can’t see how a new diesel coupe is actually going to cut it. But also feel free to tell me where to stick my opinion too!:D

You seem to be set on a Merc now Sean, but I'm sure I heard on Moray Firth this morning that Highland Audi in Inverness are doing new models "at cost price".....whatever that means. :whistling: Deals might be the same or close to those @Adie and @E39mad mentioned above?

It'd also be interesting what this crowd [aka Arnold.....:cautious:] have to say for themselves.

Son in law is driving a very nice E450 4matic coupe. Lovely car - but of a marmite colour, it’s a deep red allegedlybut can look brown. Very comfortable, very refined. And goes back shortly with about 8k miles on clock as he works for a big dealership chain...

Does that mean the deed was done???

I have to say I drive an SUV but when I go in a smooth, refined coupe (like my son in laws E class) I do wonder whether I should revert to a proper car next time...

If I do a slightly used 640i GT could be top of the list...
