I got tyre and alloy cover on my car, £450 for 5 tyres and ten wheel repairs.

Had two punctures other week - mysteriously one of them the day after seeing a group of chavs stood round my car at a sports center one evening.

    £660.00 cost to replace.

So apart from using two of my tyre claims within 4 months and 2mm off the new tyres, I'm in profit.:)

Don't want to tempt fate, but I've not had a puncture in 5yrs so I'm so far well up on the deal (considering I've never taken out tyre insurance!).

Just you watch - I'll be on here in the next fortnight complaining of the cost of replacement tyres! :ROFLMAO:

    .

As well as which company, could I ask how many years is the cover for?

BMW tyre insurance was £405 for 3 years when I bought my AUC 320d - Ihave no idea how much extra alloy insurance would have been.

    Hi,

I never took out tyre/alloy insurance on mine when i bough it (used), its now approx 3.5 years old and *touch wood* i've only had 1 puncture in my run flats and it was repaired for...... £15... at a BMW garage up in Cumbria, as I was on holiday at the time, that was a year ago and had no issues since so all good on the tyre front for me so far..... as @Spuffington says no doubt i'll be on here soon complaining of the replacement cost :)

    Kev

3 years, via JCT 600, the provider was Premia Solutions Ltd - not sure who under wrote them.

The great thing is I got it more for the alloys, as the last 1cm of the edge is diamond polished, so i knew my usual guy would struggle possibly.

Does it not have anything in the terms with a sliding scale of how much they contribute dependant on wear? a lot of them do these days.

No, full cost upto £450 per claim as long as above legal tread limit.
    Underwriter is " a Lloyd's syndicate"

On my 640d I had tyre cover. That was also as long as above legal limit, upto £350 per tyre. I got that in about June 2012. Apparently the policy changed in August 2012 to a reducing claim limit dependent on tread, i think 2-5mm was 50% above was 100%.
What happened to me when i had a puncture was i googled it and found the newer policy on line, it was 4mm, so i paid for a repair rather than pay for 50% for a new tyre.
Later I had another puncture at 6mm, and got a free tyre for £ 350 ish. They told me then i had the old policy and its a shame i had only one puncture in 3 years :(. There was about a month left on teh policy. Actually i had prob 3 repairs during my ownership, doh.
Moral - read your policy not necessarily the internet !!
I got my money back though i suppose.

I got the same policy when I purchased my F11, as did my son with his 3 series. We have both claimed. We also did not pay the full price for the policies either, no brainer as far as I am concerned, really good policy.
