Through work we have an Enterprise account, if my journey is over 140 mile in total I use these rather than the train. Most of the work destinations are not accessible via train, not directly at least.
We have to choose an Astra sized car, I go for the auto version as this generally allows a free upgrade, nice.
I’ve had a Merc A and C class, Golfs, Vectra etc. All perfectly acceptable and good to drive on the motorway.
Today however has been a little different. I came home last night to find a Seat Alhambra has been left for me. Oh dear. A mini-bus.
Sutton to Swindon and home via Bath, 240 miles in it. The positive is that I was comfortable, I had just about enough room to store my bag and jacket. Other than that I felt as though I should have been doing shuttle runs to the local airport! The thing is huge!

The DSG auto box is fine, but why put a “sport” mode and flappy paddles in a bus?! Didn’t get that.

It dwarfs the E92 and the A1.....glad we’ve had the drive extended this year!

Think the "Sport Mode " just stiffens the suspension and that s it .

Does nothing to the suspension, standard shocks and springs on the bus. Just seems to hold the gears before changing up. Again, an odd thing to have on a bus. Someone must have speced that up as a factory for order.
Doesn’t even had a DAB radio....

One thing the newer auto cars do have that annoys the hell out of me is the stop/start. If I forget to turn it off it is almost dangerous. Come to a junction, in Drive, foot in the brake and the engine stops, see a gap or get let out and there is a lag in response as the engine has to start again. First thing I do now is turn the system off.

It was a while ago but I had one of those as regular transport to go to Cambridge from Tyneside, I was glad when I stopped doing that :)
Mine was manual, and a second class ride is better than a first class walk so I put up with it rather than rack the miles on my own car.
Totally agree about the stop start though, its the first thing I turn off in Mrs M's 2 series for that very reason
