I finally got my hands on the new 1 series and with full M Performance package. Thoughts so far; Interior must be the best of any small car I've ever been in. Everything is solid and feels premium. It's packed with high end technology (I suppose that comes with the cost) The new seats are lovely and supportive without being 'too sporty' Super light responsive steering, I expect this will thread down a country road beautifully. I don't think the 1.5l 3 cylinder engine is for me although surprised how well it picks up. I think some electrical deployment is helping. has anyone else driven it yet?
I love that colour!! Reminds me of an E46 330Ci coupe I once saw when dropping off my black one at Stansted BMW a long time ago. I loved my black one but I was totally disappointed in it with that colour parked alongside. Swore to myself if I ever had a go with the Individual configurator, I'd order a car in that colour. Haven't even seen those on the road.
Twilight or Thundernight Purple? The old purple individual colour which is similar was Mora Metallic iirc I like the new front end on the facelift car - whereas did not on the pre-lci. Steering should feel good with a light engine up front.
I saw a facelift 1 series at my local dealer on Friday - looks good in the metal compared to the initial pictures I saw. The 1.5 cylinder engine with MHT is surprisingly good even in the bigger U11 X1 my wife has. The purple colour suits it too.
This colour is absolutely amazing. I was seriously tempted by an Audi TT a few years back (maybe around 10 years ago) that was a colour somewhere between purple and black! This is way more stunning a colour!
The new 1 does look a lot better than the previous model, but it is still colour/spec sensitive. I saw a relatively basic one in the showroom, and it didn't grab me at all, but the M Sport packaged ones do look smart. There was a frozen grey one in the Cheltenham dealership, that looked really good.
I must agree, spec and colour really matter. But it's very personal, what I like you may not. Some years back when searching for a for a Z4 roadster, a BMW dealer in Swansea had two, one of which was purple. Loved the pictures so off I went. Got there, took one look, and bought the other one. In the flesh the purple just didn't suit the Z4. But that was just my opinion, clearly somebody liked it.
Having driven an all electric BMW and all electric Mini, both of which had incredibly light steering, so light I wondered if it was "fly-by-wire" rather than a mechanical connection. Yes, they went where they where pointed, and for around town maybe OK, but for me it was a complete no no. As in there was no feedback whatsoever.
