Hi everyone, I'm new to BMWLander but was part of the great BMWLand community before its sad demise. Quick question.. I'm interested in a 5 series touring 530d - I used to have a 530d touring 59 plate E61 but sold it to go to the other side. To be honest I had so many issues with the E61 that I sold it after a year of ownership (Alarm antenna failures, thermostats that needed renewing after 30K miles, potential DPF issues etc) all known week points on that model I believe. Is the later model 2010 - 2017 F11 a more sorted car than the E61? Or do the legacy issues still exist? I'm potentially looking for an F11 so any wisdom you can share will be gratefully received. Mark
Welcome back Mark you'll feel right at home here. ran a 530d f11 for a couple of years with no issues as far as I remember. my e61 had most of the issues you've highlighted. Kindest Regards Carl.
Welcome back! I had a F11 530d for 18months up until Sept last year. I only changed it due to wanting the Porsche, otherwise I’d likely still have it. I bought it with c. 86k miles on it as an AUC and ran it for c. 12k miles. In that time the only thing it need was two new airbags for the rear suspension and a new air compressor (all under warranty). Didn’t have one single issue with the drivetrain. Good luck with your search.
