Thoughts? Clearly a market for such a car but have BMW missed a trick that Mazda (MX5) have not? The Z series has got bigger and bigger over the years and I think there's a gap in the BMW market for a small Roadster, no straight six sadly, more likely a small engined turbo with circa 200 BHP. a 'cheap' and great handling Roadster would fly out of the doors, surely? Oh, no I won't be changing my 98 Z3 ...... ever :D

I think the way the car industry is going they need an i3 sized roadster that is electric only sub 30k, maybe able to park it in the back of the X7?
Seriously though I have to agree that the Z4 has grown more into a gt , unfortunately the E89 didn't light my world on fire when I had the 3.0 l version although it sounded much better than it drove, that's why I bought a Porsche! I can't fit in a Mx5 which seem to be getting bigger on the out side but smaller on the inside.

Nuclear, you've hit the nail on the head.

BMW have lost the plot, as with so many of their models: it's too heavy, it's too big, and it's too expensive. Compared to the Mazda MX5, the Z4 is slower (Z4 0-62 6.6 s, MX5 6.6s); Z4 1400+ kg, MX5 1000+ kg; Z4 from £37000, MX5 from £23000. And Mazda are reliable.
