The E60 transmission failed at 196k, so has now gone.

Taking its place is a 2005 E65 730d sport in Sterling Grey with black leathers. 102k on the clock and a full SH. Got a good deal on the big 7.

The Mrs really liked this 7 and it will be her daily car (I have the Z4 to keep me mobile), it's an impressive package. Looks good with the 20" wheels and the grey on black combo is nice.

The only downside is the fact you can't connect your phone to the car without an expensive bluetooth module, which seems silly for a supposedly top of range exec saloon.

    Some pics...

Holds its presence very well after all these years. Like those wheels, although I wouldn’t like cleaning them.

I bought it at 183k around 18 months ago, got a good deal on it. It did the job!

Thanks all, tbh I was never a fan of the E65 but this one looks good with the grey & black combo and the 20" wheels suit the body size well. It drives nicely and will make a good family car.

It's currently in the bodyshop for a repair & respray of the pass side which has a nasty line and dent going from the drivers door back to the rear quarter. A couple of car park scuffs on the front and back bumper will also be sorted to get it as clean as possible, as well as the headlights getting restored as they are badly oxidised and murky.

Looking fwd to getting it back looking like it's supposed to.

I had one of these. LD06YYA. It was a long wheelbase version and it was sublime. I didn't know much about them then but if I was doing it again I'd be looking out for one with reclining rear seats and some toys.

Back then Bluetooth audio wasn't really mega popular and it's only relatively recently that cars have started to come with them as standard.

My current 7 is a 58 plate F01 with every toy going but no Bluetooth audio! Madness. I found the blow as a solution though and it works brilliantly, maintains steering wheel controls etc. I can't remember if the E65's came with the required USB and 3.5mm jack though but this does work.

In your car it won't show track names, album art etc. but I just pick a playlist on Spotify and away you go. Witch craft!

Thanks for the link David, will have a look.

Got the 7 back from the bodyshop today and gave her a full detail with AG products.

Also got myself a new private plate, which suits the big 7 perfectly.

She shines up well for a 15 year old car [IMG][IMG]

Really got me looking at these again.

I'm just on by way to put another £500 into my F01 as it looks like MAF has failed.

What made you zero in on the MAF? Codes?

Have you tried cleaning it? Loads of cleaner fluids on eBay for not a lot, but follow the instructions more carefully than they say :). Given the urgency outlined in your Cotswold request, you may find it at Halfords, ECP etc?

I've got one of these Bluetooth OBD2 readers and when the EML came on I scanned it and it came back with the attached error. I replaced the air filter and gave the MAF a clean, cleared the codes and restarted the car. Job done.

Anyway, sorry for the thread hijack![IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
