Any idea how much this is, Ed? Guessing if I'm keeping my machine for a good few years (and miles), I'm likely going to need to think about it.

I'm on the same thought process as the e91 is close to 130k
The 'kit' is £280 which includes the gun and 6 bottles of cleaner. That's enough to do 6 cleans. The bottles of cleaner are £40 each

Ed do you have any information on exactly what the kit does. I'm a bit concerned there are two aspects to a blocked DPF, soot build up and ash build up, and this kit only addresses the soot. If it clears the ash too that would be really impressive.

Its probably exactly the same but a different name and probably directly from the company that makes it.

    cheers

Great job, and write up too.
Very brave, but in for a penny in for a pound as they say.
The hob event reminds me of stripping carburettors to clean the jets on my mums kitchen table.

It turned into a big saga but really a garage could do the DPF clean for 3 hours labour and a set of DPF gaskets:

    1. Up on ramps, drop exhaust off at the flexi clamp (as per BMW instructions)
    2. Unbolt DPF
    3. Pressure wash DPF
    4. Bake DPF
    5. Refit DPF and exhaust
