This is my latest BMW venture after owning x2 E39 530i Sport's in a row and an E38 728i before those My first jaunt into a dirty diesel too Unfortunately; I couldn't find the spec I wanted that wasn't a diesel or a black 750i (and after my last E39 being Sapphire Black Metallic, I vowed to never own another black car again)! So; it's a 2006 facelift 730D. Le Mans Blue Individual with pearl beige interior, running on 20" Style 149s or 18" Style 93s and Yokohama winter tyres (they're on currently now for the season) I've done quite a bit to it since buying it; some preventative maintenance (swirl flaps, all the necessary oils & filters changed etc) and I've done a full brake overhaul inc braided lines (EBC Yellowstuff pads, Mtec C Hook discs etc) and a new AGM battery via BMW and fully coded in (previous owner fitted a Yuasa battery and didn't have it coded in properly; so it bit me in the arse)! I've got the EGR stat and main stat to do (preventative) and will get those done in the next week or so as well as trying to suss out what's clunking again on the front suspension, seeing as all the suspension around the car has been replaced! It'll then go in for its MOT Have to admit; it's a great car; very much a step up in terms of build over the E39s (don't get me wrong, they were great cars and lovely place to be), just the E65 feels that much better built and put together Some pictures:
Welcome to BMWLand. That is a really nice 730d. It certainly doesn't show its age. What kind of mileage has it done?
It’s just ticked over 103800 miles, furthest I’ve been is to Anglesey & back last weekend, so c250 miles I only do around 4-5k miles a year, but it gets an Italian tune up one/twice a week to & from training via the M6

Yup It says in the post; I've the 20" Style 149s for summer tyres and the 18" Style 93s for winters I'll probably be dropping down to 19s though in all honesty come the New Year/when it's warmer and winter tyres are no longer needed (he says as it's 12ºC here currently) The 20s look superb and the ride is fine; but 19s will be just that bit better and with that bit of a thicker tyre etc. The country roads that surround us, where we live, are atrocious at the best of times, so hoping the 19s will make the ride just a bit less crashy I've curbed the rear NS alloy twice since owing the car! I've never curbed an alloy in my life... The 20" tyres offer no protection at all
Ah, didn't read it properly. I kerbed a wheel once even though I had Goodyear AS2 with rim protection fitted. The kerb took out a chunk of tyre as well as scraping the rim.
Interested to see how you get on with this long term as I’ve changed jobs and would love to buy something like this for commuting. Will be watching with interest Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well I don't commute at all; so can't really comment on fuel economy etc; but can say it's a lovely place to be when I'm wafting to training & back on a daily basis
Is it as it's all new to me Bloody rubber bands for tyres haha It does sit well on the 20s, but 19s with a bit more tyre will put me at ease. Will have to see what BMAutosport have come the New Year
