I guess and replace it with the plastic part and new cable. Easiest way to get rid of corrosion I suppose...

    Cheers

Car passed MOT today without any advisories.

Did a total of 1300 miles in it in the last year which is not enough. Car now done just under 63,000 miles.

    Absolutely love it.

    MOT time

Maybe it's just me but I always feel about 2 seconds away from a heart attack!

I always get mine done where I work so whilst they are probably even stricter to try and fail one of mine I can go and watch the whole thing and have a poke around myself whilst it is on the ramp being done

I love the E61 M5 touring and nearly bought one 5 years ago. It had about 45k miles and was an AUC. The interior was filthy albeit the dealer hadn’t yet prepared it for sale.

it’s a shame that BMW don’t do an M estate now, which is why I turned to the dark side with my C63S, which at 510PS has plenty of power and 700Nm, even more torque.

I may have to try an M340i touring some time, as a return to BMW will come one day.

Not enough demand for it I guess. Neither M5 Touring sold particularly well.

Shame as they are both great cars.

Funny though, when Audi do the RS4 and RS6 and MB do the C63 and E63.

I for one, would an M3 touring.

Wonder if it would still say 320d on the V5....? That would be annoying.

Would be an interesting call to the insurance company.
“Thank you for the registration, so that is a BMW 320d touring. Are there any modifications to the vehicle.....”

Got the car out tonight to take to work tomorrow and give it a really good clean. Drove down the road with all the windows open and went over a very small bump and heard a funny scraping noise. Went over another small bump afterwards and heard the same noise.

Stopped to get out and have a look and looks like nearside front spring has snapped and possibly the offside one as well. M
Now got to wait until tomorrow as BMW assist have no record of my car having assist cover and then got to find somewhere that’s open to take the car in for warranty work.

    That is really unlucky.
Hope they get the recovery sorted, although fixing might be another problem altogether I’m afraid to say.

I’m not too worried at the moment as not using it regularly. The dealer I use is open with skeleton staff and is part of the same dealer group that I work for so I will be happy if I can get it there to them so when they have some spare time they can start looking at it.

    Cheers

Hey, sorry to hear that, what a bummer.

My experience of the BMW insured warranty is that it was pretty good.

Yes it has been with this car and the last two as well to be fair. Luckily I don’t need to use the car so can get assist sorted and the car picked up as soon as feasibly possible and get it to the dealer. Will get the other front spring changed if not failed at my cost to be sure.

Gutted as was really looking forward to using it to go to work tomorrow and cleaning it over the weekend.

    Cheers

Yes, you want it fixed so you can make use of the (relatively) cheap fuel at the moment!
