Here you go using https://www.bmw-routes.com/uk/en/routes/index.jsp Sorry it is in km! I cannot remember where in the menu, you change it to miles. Here you go using https://www.bmw-routes.com/uk/en/routes/index.jsp
That's really useful. Thanks @GunRunner Do you know what type of files the saved routes are? Most makes of GPS will recognise routes in .GPX format. I've got a lot of motorcycling routes saved from a Garmin satnav that are in the .GPX format. It would be good to be able to import them into the 330d, although there are quite a few that contain narrow country tracks that aren't suitable for a car.
Thanks Gunner This thing is so odd, it is no longer offering me the option to have alternative routes, but it was earlier! I think I'm reaching the conclusion that the BM implementation of Nav is a bit... compromised.
.tar.gz It is a tar file (Tape ARchive) that has been further compressed, so it becomes .tar.gz Using decompression tool to do the job you will find inside Data file in XML format Picture file using jpg @Mieke If your Sat Nav reads XML files you might possibly be in business. Perhaps not.
I suppose that the easiest way would be to plug in the USB drive and see if the BMW NAV system recognises the GPX files. I also have some of the routes stored on .GDB file format. You would think that in this day and age that file formats would be universal?
BMW tell me that there is a map update available 2018 - 2 but that there is a problem with BMW Download Manager Anyone else tried it recently?
Download Manager seems OK - but no mention of any newer version than 2018-1 I'll be checking again tomorrow.
@GunRunner - re the 'BMW Routes' - once I have clicked 'save route and send to car', I get a confirmation message, but when I go to the car I don't know where to find it and start it. How is it done please?
ConnectedDrive. Messages. The rest should be intuitive. Note. I have a lousy mobile signal in my area, so sometimes I have to wait for it to come through. Edited. Just realised you clicked "save route and send to car". My answer was for if you are in google maps and "saved a destination" and sent to car.
Thanks for that - I was looking in the 'messages' section of Connected Drive. I have been sending both destinations and routes as a test- nothing important just now - but this is potentially a very useful featuref or us. Messages with only the destination name/address arrived - but I couldn't see any route messages. But that is with the car sitting at home where I too don't get a very strong signal. I'll see later today if anything turns up when on the road.
Hi Kev The woman at BMW definitely told me that 2018-2 is available for my car, but I can't been check as Download Manager shows error. Are you on Windows or Mac? Do you get notified when a new map is available, or is it a case of having to check yourself?
Hi, I don't get notified, i simply load up the BMW download app on win10 PC and login and it comes up and tells latest version to download and it said 2018-1. What error you get and what OS you running it on? Kev
Hi Kev I'm running Win10 on a desktop PC. The error message I get comes up in a box and says Application failed to update An unexpected problem occurred while updating and launching Not sure what else to try I tried this morning on my daughters MacBook and it ran okay, but only showing 2018-1, so sounds like I've been given duff info (although 2018-2 is available elsewhere on the internet so must be a live version available)
It can depends on the model of satnav as there is different models. hmm - Try uninstalling it and then try Right click and run as admin to install it from a fresh download? Kev
My car is 2016 so has NBTEvo satnav, the new cars have iDrive 5.0 i beleive its called, my 2012 car had CIC sat nav. kev
Mine is 2014 NBT Next satnav. Just tried uninstalling, then reinstalling and run as admin but the same result. Might try again with my AV turned off. Will let you know
