    Insurance renewal time again. :(

I did a comparison website search and the cheapest was £350 from the AA. But the postman delivered a brochure from SAGA (I know I'm an 'Old Git') and I thought it worth a call.
So I was pleasantly surprised to get a quote for only £321 with a total excess of £350. So it's a 'no brainer' - I've gone with the Old Git's insurance Co. :) (Based on max no claims bonus). It includes a courtesy car and free breakdown, which I won't need as I have BMW Emergency Service.

I seem to remember someone on here posting, before the site went down, that they had switched to SAGA as they were far cheaper?

Seems like a great deal anyway (y)

I did the quote thing and found they weren't as competitive as others - their figures seem to vary widely from person to person. o_O

I have my house and contents insured with SAGA - very competitive it was too.

Just the job for a young chap like me. ;)

I can’t wait to put the years behind me.... in the interim I guess I’ll continue to be fleeced!

It’s alarming the regional variation on insurance policies costs, the price generator is similar to the national lottery wheels...

After the chap from SAGA finished the car insurance quote, we discussed Building and Contents and he quoted a very reasonable price on that as well. It's not due for another 8 months but I will be more than happy if they come up with a similar quote when the time comes. It's refreshing to think that an insurance company is providing value for money - that doesn't happen often. ;)

As someone mentioned house insurance, a friend has been with Quick Fit for some years, and is very happy. Some months ago his outside workshop caught fire, and was completely destroyed, together with £1000s worth of tools. QF were excellent, even sent a firm in to clear the site. Now has new, bigger workshop, he payed betterment, replaced all his tools and machines with new.
Quite unlike his previous insurer, when his mower caught a stone, which broke a 12'x4' double glazed window, the initial response was, "sorry Mr ......., your policy doesn't cover accidents".

Yep, life is precious but I'm not sure if wishing it away is what @snrbrtsn meant .

We are with nfu and have been for a few years, just had house and contents renewed [and could not get a quote making it worth me changing],I suspect nfu are not cheaper on new policy's as we have a good discount related to years with them.

Last year my daughters house insurer almost doubled the price, she had not claimed for over 13 years. She changed over to John Lewis and then had a claim very soon after. Grand daughter closed the glass door on the shower and it shattered in very small pieces on body ,shower tray ,floor resulting in a visit to A & E to gets glass bits removed. John Lewis Insurance could not be faulted--carpets replaced [from blood from cuts]shower replaced, and lots of towels needed replacing due to bit of glass and blood in them. Surprising bit was comment from insurers about how frequent these glass door break, it was about 8 years old.

When cars come up I will probable be moving the Z3 away to a classic insurer---- to get an agreed value , the trouble being the broker uses a company I never heard of Ageas Insurance and they have a few bad reports [in addition to some very good ones]

When I bought the 435i last month I phoned my insurers Saga, and changed over my policy from the E46 to the new car, Saga added another £270 to the remaining 7 months of my Policy . Obviously I shopped around when I eventually got home and went on Go Compare and got Exactly the Same cover from Legal & General for £60 per annum more than my original e46 Saga Policy , a Saving of at least £210 . Saga then charged me an Admin Fee of £37 plus another £90+ for leaving them Mid Policy . Could nt believe what I was hearing from them but was still better off by going with Legal & General. Saga will always come out cheapest on a quote, that s the bait , it s when you try to change your policy , or leave mid policy they get you big time .

I've just gone with SAGA for my renewal as they are by far the cheapest with many useful options included, but I'm under no illusions about insurance companies.
Come next year, no doubt they'll have hiked their price up and I'll be onto the next one. ;)

I have been with saga for 5 years now and happy with them.
When i got a second cat i phoned them but they said they didn't do multi car but would mirror my ncd.
I just renewed my x5 in January £150 for me and her fully comp with bonus protection £250 total exes.
My sister who lives 12 miles away is older than me and has a 320d and her quote was over £200.
